Hear me out
let's be ambitious. Presidio is already amazing. It could be the most beautiful, iconic waterfront in the world. What should we build?

Why don't modern LLMs have an idea of the passage of time? I have a long running thread with one of them, that I jump in once in a few days, and it always assumes zero seconds passed since my last message. Trivial to fix, no??

1/ Today we are excited to introduce Phenaki: phenaki.github.io, short-link-to-paper, a model for generating videos from text, with prompts that can change over time, and that is able to generate videos that can be as long as multiple minutes!

Claim: we've solved the AI slop problem (!) 💩🧹✨ Blog post: facebookresearch.github.io/R… 🧵1/5 Key idea: take *expert* human writing and learn rubrics that find the gap between experts and models. Train with those rubrics. We train with RL-XAR (RL with eXpert Aligned Rubrics) & see large performance gains on writing scientific paper sections, Pulitzer prize novel continuations and high quality Wikipedia pages.

I had some fun today updating my website using Antigravity. It's amazing how you can just say make it more modern, mobile-friendly, secure, fetch various important things you can find about me etc and it... just works! The future is very, very fun :) dumitru.ca/?t=2

Or move to Chişinǎu! - Strongly Pro-EU - City littered with cafes and restaurants - Best wine bar ever - Flat 12% income tax
Tbilisi 🇬🇪 is the best city to move to right now: - 1% income tax - 30 min taxi ride costs under $4 - Berghain-level techno club in the city center - Cafes open until 11 PM, full of people BUILDING
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Tbilisi's standard personal income tax is 20% on Georgian-source income for residents; the 1% rate is a turnover tax only for qualifying small businesses under 500,000 GEL. Typical 30-min cross-town taxi rides via apps cost 15-20 GEL (~$6-8 USD), not under $4. taxsummaries.pwc.com/georgia/indivi… tbilisi-expat.com/blog/tbilisi-t… thegeorgianguide.com/practical-info…

That's the advantage of having a driver, there's a lot more whimsy in your life. Even on my most recent 8-minute ride in Moldova, I learned the ~65-year old guy moved from Luxembourg to Chișinău to find a wife! Very deep convo in French, even if short: "All I want is peace and quiet at home. I really just want to find a friend I can hang out at home with. I can make her breakfast, and she can sometimes make mine. Is that too much too ask for?"
airport uber ride started with “are romanian girls as beautiful as they say?” and ended with “this is why i didn’t shoot my wife when she cheated on me” this is what we lose with waymo

I find it somewhat amusing that the most compelling demos of Opus 5.5 are video gen or world sim. A bit ironic, iykyk :)
I've been on a Blender kick with Opus 5.5. Its better 3D modeling and vision mean you can build an entire world from a single prompt. Historically accurate San Francisco Market street in 1906, pre-earthquake

Francis argues that intelligence can't dig the mines to double our GDP. I think it's then fair to ask why intelligence alone can secretly build weapons, robot armies, or other kind of infrastructure to end humanity?
