@SGJ72 I read MONGRELS 3 years ago. It blew me away. I’ve been devouring your prose since. ONLY GOOD INDIANS and REPTILE HOUSE are favs. Inspired me to write my first novella. BITE THE BULLET comes out May 14th. Thank you.

Cartoonist Katie Skelly pens an obituary for Ed Piskor, author of popular series such as Hip Hop Family Tree, X-Men: Grand Design and Red Room, and co-creator of the influential YouTube channel Cartoonist Kayfabe. Piskor died on April 1, 2024, aged 41. tcj.com/ed-piskor-1982-2024/
The @cartoonistkayfabe breakdowns of DARK KNIGHT, WATCHMEN, AKIRA are a huge resource and I continue to listen to them regularly. RIP @edpiskor — I appreciate @jimrugg keeping the back catalog coming. But I really hope we get some new eps with Brian, Geoff, Mahfood and Fiffe.

The greatest make-up effect is not so much a showy monster as it is a convincing old age make-up that no one even realises is a make-up. Most people watched The Exorcist (1973) believing Max von Sydow was in his seventies, though actually he was only 44. Hell of a magic trick!

I’d be willing to bet you didn’t know the FTC just released a report about why grocery prices are high and that’s 100% due to corporate greed.
I’d bet you probably hadn’t heard because mainstream media doesn’t think this is front page news.
I’d bet they don’t think it’s front page news because it goes against their “Biden is to blame for high prices” narrative.
I’d bet it goes against that narrative because most media is owned by five rich men who want to keep these prices high, and return republicans to power at any cost because it’s better for their tax bill despite the cost to the rest of us.
We ran this story on our podcast because independent media isn’t dependent on the status quo. 👊

Tomorrow my podcast is devoted to Ed Piskor. I apologize in advance if it gets heavy at times. I thought his family deserved to hear what his work and accomplishments meant to the community.

I think it would be cool if cartoonist kayfabe had 100k subs- that way they can get the silver plaque that ed piskor always wanted. #EdPiskor
#EdPiskor did.

It seems, as per Ed Piskor’s wishes, the remaining Kayfabe episodes will be released. If you dig comics, but haven’t watched Cartoonist Kayfabe, do yourself a favor and check it out…youtu.be/ewbdg_lD-oo?si=Oqjh…
