i'm hiring a head of social at Collabstr, we are growing fast af and we have a cracked team, ideal person:
> addicted to social platforms
> deeply understands hooks and virality
> has built audience before
> creative and bold
> bias for action, can create content
nice to haves:
> is an autist
must be in vancouver, dm if you know someone and I will send you $ if I hire them
we grew Collabstr to over $10m revenue with no performance marketing, just word of mouth + Search
This is not a flex though, I think we should've started paid marketing years ago...
I subconsciously looked at paid media as an inferior form of user acquisiton - pretty much thinking if the product is good enough you shouldn't have to run ads like a pleb
The truth is, if things are going good and you're growing without paid, you sure as hell should add fuel to the fire and gain as much market share as you can by slapping on paid as a channel - this is the easiest it gets
Strike while the iron is hot, don't give anyone a reason to weasel their way into your market
Dominate all channels
since @elonmusk bought X, influencer marketing spend on the platform is up 18x.
Creators on X also charge 16% more money to advertisers compared to the pre-Elon days...
Generally, I think the algo is much better, and brands feel more confident in the platform being able to reach the right people hence the increase in spend
If you’re not actively policing the narrative around your brand online across every surface like social, Reddit, Trustpilot, etc… you will get absolutely cooked in AI generated search results
Brands need to have monthly budgets for UGC production around their products, or the mob will control the narrative for you
Office champagne gun. Locked and loaded.
Smash glass in case of emergency.
There are only 2 valid emergencies:
1. There is a fire in the office
2. We hit our revenue target and you have an unquenchable thirst for champagne
Any other reason for smashing the glass will lead to a fine.

If you obsess over acquiring customers, you'll lose them to competitors who obsess over keeping them. If you obsess over keeping customers, you'll never need to obsess over acquiring them.
just passed 1 million users @usecollabstr , with nearly $0 in paid marketing.
Just viral growth and word of mouth. Also 5 years in the making, but user growth is definitely accelerating beyond what I imagined possible.
We just recently started spending money on ads, and it's still so small that it's negligable.
Vancouver's @usecollabstr just hit +1M registered users!
If you haven't already, the story and podcast ep of their backstory of bootstrapping with no venture capital is worth a read / listen.

Interviewed a Vancouver startup a few months ago when they had over 600K users across 30 countries. They just told me it's now over 900K users across 120 countries. They've also just opened their first office in Yaletown.
Can't wait to release the backstory of how it all started from the co-founders' dorm at BCIT very soon!!
Every SaaS founder should be jumping for joy.
We're going to go from idea -> PRD -> design -> Implementation as fast as we are capable of thinking of new ideas.
The only way to get even faster is to put a chip in your brain (will happen eventually).
All friction has been removed. It will take literal minutes to go from idea in your head to high-fidelity design and implementation.
If you're an employee, the only moat left for you is the ability to think creatively and output original ideas on a consistent basis - implementation skills no longer matter.
I have invented a new job title
Chief Clanker Officer (CCO)
They are in charge of managing AI tools and agents within the company.
Day to day, they will manage the entire company’s context library so that everyone using AI tooling is interacting with the most up to date and accurate context.
Context that we feed our AI tools is constantly going out of date and it results in lower quality outputs. The CCO will change this.

More of my workday is becoming me just brain dumping context into a markdown file so I can expand Claudes memory & context window so it knows every facet of my business and life. I am basically recreating my brain.
I have been reduced to a context gatherer and AI makes the rest of the decisions
Never have I NOT gotten what I wanted.
If we truly want something it is already ours.
There’s usually just a time delay in between execution and results, and the delay can vary, which is what makes it addicting.
If you visualize too hard, the real thing can be quite disappointing too.
Consumer brain rot is about to reach all time highs.
Content production is going to increase 100x with these new image/video models like Sora2.
If you think the world is noisy now, wait until you’re hit with a never ending stream of content that is just produced en mass at break neck speed.
The amount of noise D2C companies will have to break through to reach their end user will be absurd.
It’s about to get a lot harder for them…
Paid ad spend & Influencer spend will see a bump because of this. The default method of breaking through the noise will be to pay for it.
Those with audiences will reap the financial rewards…
I spent about 16 hours this weekend dumping my work brain into well-structured text documents & fed it into a an AI chat
I suspect if I spend about 40 more hours on documentation I’ll never receive a work-related question again… AI will be able to answer better than I can
