In 10 years when Gen Z fully undergoes millennialification we’ll have facecam ukelele songs on AmericaTok mostly comprised of the lyric “Bear was the villain in obsession”
Obviously not the point of this post but the thing the kid articulated always perplexed me. During lockdown drills they'd go LOCKDOWN and put covers over the windows and we'd all have to huddle up in a corner. They'd say the idea is to fool the shooter. Wouldn't they know???
Kid: “If there’s ever a school shooter, I’m jumping out the damn window and running.”
Me: “You can’t just do that. You’re supposed to follow the lockdown instructions.”
Kid: “You know who else knows those instructions? THE SHOOTER. They know where we hide, how we lock the doors, and how we’re told to stay quiet. I’m telling you right now. If something happens, I’m OUT THE WINDOW.”
Me: Just standing there, realizing this child has thought about this scenario far more than any child ever should have to.
And honestly? How am I supposed to argue with a kid who has already had to think through a plan to survive a school shooting?
These are children. They should be worrying about homework, video games, friendships, and what they’re having for lunch. Not calculating escape routes in case someone comes into their school with a gun.
I hate these conversations. I hate that they’re necessary. And I hate that for so many kids, this isn’t some distant, unthinkable possibility. It’s something they’ve rehearsed in their heads.
Children should be learning how to live, not constantly preparing for how to survive. 💔
Invokes a similar feeling as having an art or creativity based sona as an artist. Always found that irksome
You Can See Everything isn’t a movie. Not because it’s a documentary or anything, but because Digger was the last movie in all of history so this must be something else
All this shit about "whimsy" as an adjective or whatever. When are we talking about the true evil: online folks using "man" as punctuation to signify passive aggression
People come after DBD fans for liking a boring game or whatever when really the proper slander potential lies in their music taste
The worst part about Chess is that it makes you look dumb when you lose at it, maybe disproportionately to any other game. So I don't play it and now I suck at Chess. Such is life I guess LMAO
