1/ Not a centralized exchange. Not a decentralized exchange. Today an entirely new vertical of exchanges was created right before your eyes and launched on The Arena: The Social Exchange. Let me break down what exactly this is and what problems it solves 👇

Great take. Case in point: Most of the memecoins on Avalanche have gained a lot of their traction directly from @TheArenaApp . Why is this important! An underrated “L0” of crypto is the social layer. L2s and protocols on Eth don’t just benefit from the economic security of Eth, but they borrow from the legitimacy of Eth. Being “Ethereum-aligned” gives the social proof that a project is legit, technical, and innovative (even if not true in reality). The best business development in crypto also comes from teams that speak the same social language as the rest of the space. Too many L1s have tried to force adoption by just paying for big partnerships and incentivizing integrations from mercenary protocols. On the flip side, a new player like @monad_xyz now has grown a massive following pre public testnet due to their deep alignment with other core crypto protocols (e.g., inclusion in other airdrops for being part of discord) and by making memes that relate to the rest of the space. Socialfi and protocols like The Arena have created an even more transparent social layer for protocols to live on. This is the most crypto native and authentic way to signal social proof now — by actually living in and being on the most grassroots platform. I imagine we see a shift from Discord communities being included in airdrops , to @TheArenaApp communities being included. So much potential for Socialfi to reimagine what the social layer could look like by partnering with other grassroots protocols and addressing their problems from the start.
Imagine being a project on Avalanche hoping to gain traction and not having any presence in The Arena. And soon this will apply to all of web3 and beyond.

My thoughts on Avalanche Community Grants Quadratic Funding Round One🔺 I explored every single application, and curated 5 projects out 25 available. I'll expand on the criteria I came up with & more details about my picks 🧵👇
The Avalanche Community Grants Program is underway, and voting begins today for this first round of 25 selected projects! The first Quadratic Funding Round is open, allowing anyone to donate to these projects, which will in turn decide how matching funds from the Avalanche Foundation are allocated. Check out a brief description of each project and vote here: explorer.gitcoin.co/#/round/…

Sustained 100k+ TPS, 50 validators (5 global regions), 10m accounts (2.5m active), One click script for anyone to reproduce the benchmarks. Vryx is looking promising

Solana is broken; it fails to meet demand! Before leaving crypto, try other chains! Here are all L1s in the top 100 based on decentralization & scalability:🧵 BTC - Low capacity❌ BNB - Centralized❌ ETH - At capacity & centralized L2s❌ SOL - At capacity (parallelization)❌ XRP - Centralized❌ DOGE - Low capacity❌ TON - High capacity (sharding)✅ ADA - Low capacity❌ AVAX - Has capacity✅ BCH - High capacity (simple)✅ DOT - Has capacity✅ TRON - Has capacity✅ NEAR - High Capacity (sharding)✅ ICP - Has capacity✅ LTC - Low capacity❌ APT - High capacity (parallelization)✅ ETC - Low capacity❌ FIL - Has capacity✅ ATOM - Has capacity✅ XLM - Centralized❌ HBAR - Centralized❌ VET - Centralized❌ KAS - High capacity (simple DAG)✅ FTM - High capacity (DAG)✅ XMR - Has capacity✅ TIA - Low capacity❌ SUI - High capacity (parallelization)✅ ALGO - Centralized❌ SEI - High capacity (parallelization)✅ BSV - High capacity (simple)✅ EGLD - High capacity (sharding)✅ XEC - High capacity (simple)✅ QNT- Has capacity✅ WLD - Has capacity✅ NEO - Centralized❌ XTZ - High capacity (sharding)✅ EOS - High capacity (parallelization)✅ MINA - Low capacity❌ KAVA - Has capacity✅ IOTA - Centralized❌ KSC - Has capacity✅ A harsh truth distilled in a few words for each chain, as you either have the capacity or not To explain my methodology: Anything below 100 TPS is low capacity, anything above 1k TPS is high capacity. TPS is counted based on how many simple 1 to 1 TXs fit within a single block Any blockchain with permissioned elements is considered "centralized," deal with it! In brackets, I also highlight what scaling tech is being used, as the truth is that it is not possible to scale a blockchain without using some sort of exotic tech The exception is "simple" chains; without Turing complete smart contracts, no exotic scaling tech is required at all Sharding remains my favorite approach, as the upper limit can exceed 1M TPS! Parallelization has a lower total capacity but is significantly faster DAGs are theoretically infinitely scalable but come with other trade-offs, such as more difficulty in tracking a single global state Ultimately, we want cryptocurrency to succeed & it can only succeed if it is scalable. The recent failures in SOL are disappointing, which makes it all the more important to drive this message home hard Blockchains can scale to meet demand despite the recent growing pains!

There is no insider plays on avax and I’m in all of the chats some lurking, some talking - I don’t know who gossips about this insider/cabal shit but the group chats I’m in are people wanting our community to display some balls and choose rich and onboard new people. I have been on this chain since 2021 and know pretty much every one who is active. All of the whales and OGs are literally buying dips, bull posting, and holding the fort down while many complain about rewards, distribution, $MYBAGS , fading a project bc of some rumor they heard. I saw someone complain about the coins listed on a poll the other day because there coin wasn’t lmao 🤡 You see coins on solana shoot straight to $100MM no problem, those degens don’t care about hand outs from a foundation, how much tokens ansem holds, or who is involved, they make memes and ape. Our coins are fair launched, other chains launch low float coins and give to KOLs who won’t dump and they moon, there is much less inside information here than you think. All the AF coins that anyone owns were bought on a dex with no allocations. This tribalism and complaining has got to go.

Today in the Reth chat I dumped everything I know about >10x'ing the performance of Reth's state root, the real bottleneck in crypto performance. This includes my understanding of how other DBs like Geth, Solana, Monad, Firewood achieve their performance & verifiability.

James Hunsaker took the stand in the Terraform Labs trial today and revealed he had filed an SEC whistleblower complaint against his former employer, Jump Trading, about its role in propping up Do Kwon's UST algorithmic stablecoin prior to its $40bn crash in 2022. A thread 1/10

if you actually sit down and do the math, this is terrifying. if theres a bug in Geth, all validators using it would be slashed 82% in a few hours. And the total amount of staked ETH would be cut by 53% = 16,685,751 ETH ($55B usd) would get deleted

Crazy story. Went to a Comedy show last night, right. Out of nowhere, @nottjmiller went on stage to test some bits out. Epic. Immediately mentioned Bitcoin in his set. Cool. Eventually asked the crowd “anyone here own crypto?”. I go crazy. He looks to me and asks “what do you own” “Avalanche!!!” Of course. He responds “oh wow okay into stuff like Polygon and what not.” In my mind I am screaming. He follows up “so do you own any NFTs?” I literally panic and say the first collection that comes to mind. “Uhhhh Pudgy Penguins” (I wish) He goes “you hear this shit? Pudgy Penguins, WIF, the his shit sounds like it’s made up.” Everybody laughs. “Now how much is a pudgy penguin worth? Half a million” I say “like 25k” “Like 2 million?” I say “25k” “Like 3 million?… you see if I start off with high numbers it makes it seem like 25k isn’t a lot” Everyone was cracking up. He continues to tell a story about him explaining NFTs to his dad. Hilarious. Point being. If stand ups are starting to make crypto jokes again. This is a real sign we’re getting back into the zeitgeist of society. Wagmi? Right?
