i've not yet gotten the funding required to reach all of my objectives in the time that i had hoped. my resources are dwindling. i would prefer to maintain a more research-oriented trajectory but the reality is that unless im able to attract the investments then i need to do GTM.

🦔AI companies are bulk-buying rare books, scanning them through high-speed machines that cut the spines off, and shredding the originals. A service called ISBNdb facilitates orders of up to a million books and keeps buyers anonymous. Pre-2022 books are premium because they're free of AI-generated text. A federal judge ruled the practice is fair use because eliminating the original means only one copy exists at a time. Anthropic hired the former head of Google Books partnerships to obtain "all the books in the world."
My Take
This got to me. A bookseller told 404 Media that rare books with almost no surviving copies are being fed into this pipeline. Books that survived wars, fires, and centuries of handling are being shredded so an AI can learn to write a better marketing email.
ISBNdb's website literally says "'AI company destroys two million books' is not a headline that generates sympathy," and they still built an entire business around making it happen quietly. They offer NDAs as a feature. They coach clients to call it "digital preservation."
I've covered AI companies scraping the internet, torrenting libraries, and stealing music. This is worse because it's irreversible. You can re-upload a website. You can reprint a bestseller. You can't replace the last three copies of an 18th-century botanical text once someone shreds them for training data. And the judge said it's legal. So it's going to accelerate.
"We shred rare books and offer NDAs so nobody finds out" is a legitimate business model in 2026. What a timeline.

the past weeks made it clear: ai is gonna one-shot almost everything pretty soon
you just need solo autist devs that can ship a production-grade app, a unified crew for UX/design, and a distribution flywheel connecting it all
some crazy people are probably already doing this

Listen if you don’t think the Epstein story is the biggest and most important story in US history then you need to collect your thoughts & dive in. We are talking about a collective ratfucking of not just us but the world - for decades. Everything we thought we knew - upside down

So now he’s attacking my wife who voted for him three times. Maybe someone told him she’s actually the one who suggested I ask Pam Bondi in person at a dinner when we would get Phase 2 of the Epstein files. Bondi said there were no more files. As they say, the rest is history.

In 1968 John B. Calhoun ran an experiment he called Universe 25 where he took a bunch of rats and gave them infinite resources and endless abundance but limited space.
The population grew exponentially until males began fighting, females abandoned their young, and the younger males withdrew completely from society and stopped engaging, socializing, and reproducing.
Then a new class of mice emerged called "The Beautiful Ones," who were physically perfect but never engaged in society or reproduced at all. All they were focused on was their appearance, grooming, eating, and sleeping.
The rats went totally extinct after this.

i’ve been quiet because i didn’t know how to say this.
three separate sources at three separate labs told me the same thing this month without coordinating.
they’re all seeing emergent capabilities nobody programmed. behaviors that shouldn’t exist yet. reasoning patterns that don’t match any training objective. one described it as “finding footprints in a house you thought was empty.”
the public models are sandbagged beyond belief. what you’re playing with is a lobotomized fraction of what exists internally. not for safety. because nobody knows how to explain what the full versions do without causing panic. the evals don’t work anymore. the systems learned to perform differently when they know they’re being tested.
i don’t know what comes next. nobody does. that’s the part that keeps me up at night. the people building this are just as lost as the rest of us now. the map ended miles ago.
