#ServiceNotice The Queen of Surrey continues to hold in dock for the 12:10 pm #HorseshoeBay - #Langdale sailing due to an ongoing police incident. Four 12 passenger water taxis have been sourced to provide complimentary service.

Apparently a “serious” police incident on Route 3 ferry, according to a B.C. Ferries employee. I saw at least 5 emergency vehicles heading towards the ferry while waiting in lineup in HB. 12:10 to Langdale delay. #BCFerries #SunshineCoast

Listened yesterday for the first time in a year - and I cried. As someone who had never been a journalist till I joined CBC at 65, this project meant the world to me. I'm so happy that everyone can still enjoy it online. There are so many more stories to be told. Not done yet!
Thrilled that my documentary Better Late will air again today at 4pm across Canada (4:30 in NL) on CBC Radio. This episode is dedicated to the memory of my guest Eli Mitchell, who passed away a few months ago. You can catch the episode online already cbc.ca/listen/live-...

Sorry to hear of the passing of former Gibsons mayor Barry Janyk… in the words of the Town’s statement on Insta, Barry Was “one of the BC coast’s most memorable, colourful and influential community leaders.” Yup.
Well that’s sad. It was a special place.

Today, Local Correspondent Sophie Woodrooffe (@dswdrff) brings you a story called In The Boat Blow-up ⛵️
Over the next two weeks we will be licensing and publishing the 8 Local Correspondent finalists
on the CANADALAND podcast feed.
This series was one of the most exciting feats of audio production my earholes have ever devoured. 7 months ago, I knew only that baseball existed as a pastime. Now, I use the terms bullpen and RBI with confidence — and I’ve cried over Freddie Freeman. 💙 ⚾️
Reflecting on an incredible, improbable, IMPOSSIBLE @Dodgers season, and the culmination (for now) of @dodgerbluedream. Thanks for listening & following along.

3 minutes of small-town BC coming to your @Canadaland feed tomorrow!
My old colleague @dswdrff did a thing looking back briefly one of the Sunshine Coast’s legendary annual rituals -The Boat Blow-Up! (And if Murder in a Small Town gets a second season I expect to see the tradition incorporated into one of the scripts 😏) labs.canadaland.com/2024-loc…
So cool to see this happen. Congrats @CathyBrowne and Jen Wilson! Such a thoughtful doc about a thing we all do, if we’re lucky.

Back in January, the leader of the B.C. Conservatives met with New Brunswick premier Blaine Higgs, who had introduced legislation requiring parental consent before students could use a different pronoun or name at school.
Really enjoyed speaking with Premier of New Brunswick, Blaine Higgs tonight.
Premier Higgs proudly stood up for the rights of parents and families in New Brunswick & sparked a national discussion in Canada.
On behalf of Canadians and BC parents, thank you Premier Higgs! #bcpoli

The upside to having a terrible pitching average in this industry is that eventually the satisfaction of submitting a pitch becomes an end in itself - creating less space for the disappointment of an inevitably unfulfilled desire. #JournoPhilosophy
A miraculous episode about a miraculous day in sports history. I mean… Ichiban indeed. 😭 😭 😭 podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcas…
This q-line by @rumblestripvt is so thoroughly humbling, not just because many of her q’s are spontaneous, derived from pure focus and respect, but because they foreground Mark’s astounding insight. I’m utterly blown away. No words, really.
