This is essentially what @AdamWylde said on the podcast last night, and is the source of his skepticism. KD seems quite comfortable making this gamble on "his guys" and the consequences will be his job if he is wrong. This seems clear.

Judging by this quote from Kyle Dubas today, the 2021-22 Maple Leafs season will take on a "Last Dance" kind of vibe. The vision isn't changing. It's now or never for results.
Nice measured take from our guy @Steve_Dangle !! Surely fans have reasons to be jaded, disappointed and angry as they haven’t done anything yet. But it is only fair to judge the artwork once it has been painted…

He also acquired a good player, fans got excited, and now he’s gone. I keep saying - I understand the deal, it’s creative, and may ending up being brilliant. But we’re here in Twitterville. A lot of fans are just gonna see them trade for a guy then lose him for nothing.
Even as a leader in business, there is so much that goes into talent evaluation over and above cost and performance metrics. Maybe the decisions were influenced by these unknown factors. It can’t be easy to make these calls @AdamWylde @Steve_Dangle
One perspective I have never understood in GM evaluation. There is so much unknown to us. @AdamWylde @Steve_Dangle 1/2
Such an accurate take.

Last week everyone poo-pooed Patrik Laine for scoring 34% of all points on the powerplay. And yet, as Leon Draisaitl scored 40% of his points on the powerplay last year, he was honored with the Hart.

Another reason I am so happy to be a @GoodLifeFitness member. They paused our fees immediately. Both times. Love that my gym is not tone deaf, even as these restrictions limit their business!

Members of a Calgary gym chain are questioning why they are still being charged full price despite the closure of Alberta fitness facilities amid a second wave of COVID-19 infections. #COVID19AB #yyc calgaryherald.com/news/local…
The only real question I have about the #Election2020 : When does @realDonaldTrump have his inevitable appearance on Dancing With the Stars?
Fully agree with this 👇🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Hard to think of anything the NHL has engineered better than this return to play tournament. It really has been great, doubly so under the circumstances.
It is. I’m done.

This might be more embarrassing than every Game 7.

James I’m so sorry
Poor @Steve_Dangle... that must have been an emotionally exhausting 5:10. #leafs
This team.... listening to Keefe and Dubas talk and the hope sneaks right back IN! "Fast, fun, have the puck on our sticks, hard to play against" as a fan these are things that have been missing from this group for a year now. #cycles #TMLTalk #leafs

Jon missed practice for "personal reasons", Babcock comments that Dubby and Jon are flying down together. It sounds like the captain was summoned to the ivory tower to consult on a decision. #timandsid @timandsid
Sounds like the kind of coach our boys need #firebabcock

I have defended Dubas a lot. But. If he doesn't wake up and address the problems with this team instead of defending them, I will be calling for his job along with Babcock. I can not watch this team. #firebabock #leafs

I am so over this coach and his coaching of this team. #firebabcock #tmltalk
