Congrats @montypal
Congratulations @montypal on the KCA Eugene P. Schonfeld Award! 🎉 An extraordinary mentor, leader, and kidney cancer researcher whose work has changed how we treat RCC, and who generously lifts up colleagues worldwide. Thoroughly deserved. #IKCSNA26 #kidneycancer
Reality check! Self gratification is permanent fame is transient!
Pick any medical specialty other than your own. Who’s the most famous physician in it? You probably can’t name one.
Almost none of us will be known outside our field, and even those who achieve real professional fame are mostly forgotten within a few decades.
Fame is a poor reason to devote your life to medicine. The work itself matters more: caring for patients, discovering new knowledge, and teaching the next generation.
Excited to have an effective option in pretreated RCC
JUST IN: @FDA approves the combo of Lenvatinib+HIF2 inhibitor Belzutifan in advanced clear cell renal cell carcinoma following PD1/L1 inhibitor. Results based on Litespark-011 trial led by @motzermd @DrDanielHeng @SchmidigerManu1

A very special thank you to @montypal for his tremendous mentorship and support! And many thanks to all the other mentors who have helped me along the way 🙏
😅 Looking back as a PGY-14, it only took two internal medicine residencies, a few research years, and an oncology fellowship to get here. But I enjoyed every bit of the journey and met so many incredible people!!

Very excited to welcome four outstanding new faculty to the Lank Center for Genitourinary Oncology @DanaFarber
1) Dr. Nazli Dizman @NazliDizman
2) Dr. Brian Russell @brian_russell39
3) Dr. Hamid Emamekhoo @HamidEmamekhoo
4) Pr. Neeraj Agarwal @neerajaiims
They bring complementary expertise spanning clinical investigation, microbiome science, informatics, quality improvement, education, and GU oncology.
Hamid and Neeraj will also take on important broader institutional leadership roles @DanaFarber and @Harvard Cancer Consortium @df_hcc
We are fortunate to have them—and the @DanaFarber_GU and our patients are in very good hands.
Welcome to @CityOfBoston and @DanaFarber!
Epoch making remarkable study in cancer with personalized vaccine being able to show benefit in adjuvant therapy of RCC
JUST IN and via @Merck + @moderna_tx: A landmark moment for cancer immunotherapy. 🎯
Phase 3 INTerpath-001 is positive: the individualized mRNA neoantigen therapy intismeran (V940/mRNA-4157) + pembrolizumab significantly improved both RFS/DMFS vs pembrolizumab alone after resection of high-risk melanoma.
For years, the idea of designing a treatment around the unique mutations of each patient’s tumor seemed aspirational. Now we have the first positive Phase 3 trial (N=1137) of an individualized neoantigen therapy—and of an mRNA-based cancer therapy.
Personalized cancer vaccines are moving from promise to reality.
Now we need to see the magnitude of benefit, durability, and ultimately OS. But today is an important day for the field—and hopefully for our patients. 👏
Congrats to #CathyWu @DanaFarber for her trailblazing research that is materializing in tangible outcomes! At @DanaFarber_GU we are closely working with Cathy + @DFCI_NeoVax team on several GU protocols, after our @Nature work with @BraunMDPhD et al (nature.com/articles/s41586-0…)

Remarkable work! Novel prognostic marker in prostrate cancer
Congrats @laurasenamd for publishing the definitive study on IDH1-altered prostate cancers. This is a distinct molecular subtype of PCa with novel therapeutic implications (vorasidenib?). @neerajaiims @VanAllenLab @nikolausschultz europeanurology.com/action/s…
Congrats for bringing this forward. @tompowles1
Very attractive regimen to limit the EV therapy.
JUST IN: VOLGA Phase III is (+)=>Neoadjuvant Durva+EV and adjuvant Durva alone showed EFS & OS benefit. The shorter period of EV is a very attractive option!

Provider Perceptions of Cure in Renal Cell Cancer Presented by Ms. Dena Battle🇺🇸 of @kcCURE
RCC specialists demonstrate notable hesitancy in using the term “cure,” even in clinical contexts where long-term outcomes may justify it. This reluctance reflects not only clinical uncertainty but also parallels similar reservations among patients. The absence of a standardized definition contributes to inconsistent communication, potentially affecting expectations and decision-making. Establishing clearer, consensus-driven terminology around “cure” in RCC could enhance transparency, improve physician–patient alignment, and support more informed shared decision-making. Addressing this linguistic and conceptual gap may ultimately strengthen trust and facilitate more meaningful discussions about prognosis and treatment goals in renal cell carcinoma care. #KidneyCancer
