One of the questions I get asked a lot is about delta transmission through pets. According to my research they can be potential super-spreaders. What I have done personally is wrap my cats in a protective latex film to mitigate the effects.

I was just having a heated argument with a colleague over the phone. When I quad mask i wear surgical -> cloth -> N95 -> P100. He was saying the correct way is cloth -> surgical -> N95 -> P100. What do you guys think? (there might not be a correct answer just personal preference)

Great to see the FDA recommending the vaccine for our vulnerable 5-11 year olds. I’m still just waiting for those 0-4 jabs. It makes me sick knowing a relative of mine (my 4 year old nephew) is unvaccinated and I will be staying far away from them until they’re double jabbed.

Addendum: -0.5-4 vaccines would be preferred. We need to start researching foetal vaccinations.

People have been asking what dangerous things the unvaxed do. I once had an unvaxed patient who I diagnosed with asymptomatic fatigue (via zoom). I told him he must stay in bed for 3 weeks to rest, he disobeyed my orders. He was ok in the end but it could have gone horribly wrong

This is why I love New Zealand, we are one of the few countries in the world that care about public health and will go to any length to achieve it. It’s a shame that supermarkets won’t require vaccine certificates I’m not sure where I will be able to shop safely for groceries.

Great news! My day 3 covid test at the Jet Park has come back negative. Its not too surprising because I didn't have many symptoms and I had a high CT value on my initial test (likely late stage infection).

My time at the Jet Park has been positive but I'm looking forward to being home and continuing my independent research. I found it hard to concentrate sometimes when my neighbour was screaming and kicking down his front door, lucky I brought my noise cancelling headphones.

Some people asked why I had to go to the Jet Park. I have a history of mental health problems so it was determined I wouldn't be alright isolating on my own. I was overwhelmed with the support from everyone, thanks once again!

Something that’s been keeping me up at night is people coming into NZ with insufficient covid antibodies. We need to do antibody tests on their flight and if they are low administer a Pfizer booster. It would stop people with inferior vaccines compromising our safety.

I'm so excited, I just purchased a cool green folder to store all my covid papers. When we are "living with covid" I will always carry around a print out of my vaccine certificate, bank statement (proof I'm from Auckland), and my daily covid pcr test result.

A few weeks ago I heard a thud and someone screaming “f*** I think I’ve broken my back”. I looked outside and my neighbour had fallen off her roof, I stayed inside. I later found out she was unvaccinated. It was an important reminder to always stay inside even if you could help.

Why has the government not made an announcement to cancel Halloween? I absolutely do not want any children showing up at my door step and creating exposure events. I will be positioned in my top floor window with a hose spraying anyone that comes close.

I just got an alert on my phone. My mums tracker I had installed in her thigh has left the geofence I setup around her house in. She managed to get to the Florida state football game before I had private security apprehend her. I will do anything to protect my parents from covid.

Omg, my sister in law just told me my brother is harbouring some illegal unvaccinated employees on his work site. She said he’s been letting them live in their basement but they’re getting smelly because she doesn’t let them use the bathroom. Covid exposes your true colours.

My brother just told me a concerning story, when they're pouring concrete on his construction site they need two people standing next to eachother (less than 1m apart) to smooth out the surface. I'm now on hold on the phone with the union trying to get his site shut down.

Update (12.31 AM): I got through to the union boss but he told me they would need some proof before they shut down the site for health and safety. I got a little angry and told him firmly "I'm a f***** doctor/part time scientist, If you trust the science shut the site down"

The middle of an unprecedented crisis is not when you should be questioning the government. The one vaccine rollout is based on the latest science and we also want vaccine equity in our country. Everybody gets the same so theres no issues with vaccine elitism.
New Zealand is willing to give AstraZeneca vaccines to Pacific Island Nations, but won’t allow its own population to use it - New Zealander’s only have the option of using the Pfizer vaccine. Why doesn’t this Labour government give people choices? healthpolicy-watch.news/six-…

New Zealand is leading the world in covid response equity. 1) Global equity (countries that needed vaccines more go before us) 2) Local equity (no restrictions relaxed until all dhbs > 90% vaxed 3) Vaccine equity (everyone gets the same vaccine, no elitists)

Sometimes I have weak moments where I see fully vaccinated people missing out on funerals because they’re stuck in MIQ. Then I remember the science that even when there are 100s of cases of community transmission a day unfortunately we cannot start new chains of transmission.
