It’s open! First day rounding in The NEST (Neonatal Early Stabilization & Treatment) Unit at Children’s at Erlanger. This is East Tennessee’s only dedicated small baby unit. 8 months building a 136-page QI toolkit + bedside app so the potentially better practices become second nature. Dedicated team with specialized training completed. Now ~6 months of PDSA cycles to perfect the process. Grand opening spring 2027.

How will we standardize care for the nano and micro preemie?
There’s an app for that.
Decision support and standardized care in everyone’s hand from the first minutes until discharge. Now, it is time to build the system of care that makes a difference.

Evidence to Practice: Innovative Approaches to Surfactant Administration
I’ll share lessons from disseminating SALSA (Surfactant Administration through Laryngeal or Supraglottic Airways) across low- and middle-income countries, and how the same method can be integrated and rapidly implemented in high-resource NICUs. Will be specifically discussing how we did this at the Children’s Hospital at Erlanger.
Free worldwide webinar + discussion. All welcome.

My dearest Abigail,
The Free Balogun campaign has succeeded.
After many hard marches through red tape, federation fog, and the cold stone walls of FIFA jail, young Balogun is at last liberated and marches under our colors.
The lads now ride for the Round of 16. One more victory, and they shall breach the quarterfinal frontier, a land our nation’s men have never conquered.
Tonight we feast on victory, orange slices, and dangerous levels of belief.
Yours in liberty,
Capt. Ream 🇺🇸⚽️

Independence has been declared, the population is learning about the document, but there is a general sense of: “now, what shall we do?”
It is true that the United Colonies or United States or whatever this nation is called is unilaterally independent, but her parent nation shall not release her easily.
The Declaration of Independence is signed - but the battle has only just begun.

A big reason why Spain chose Chattanooga was the privacy and the peacefulness of the city
The team has been taking full advantage of that this week
They are rested
They are recovered
They are focused
And @SEFutbol defender Pedro Porro has enjoyed this peace 🇪🇸⬇️

Spain being based at Baylor School in Chattanooga is already surreal to me.
But Lamine Yamal casually making a Fort O Walmart run before the World Cup might be my favorite part of the whole thing so far.
As someone who lives in Chattanooga and went to Baylor, it is so neat seeing them here, not just training by the Tennessee River, but actually experiencing the area.
Even the cultural Walmart trip.
Plantain chips, plastic bags, fans saying hi in the aisle.
Welcome to Chattanooga. This is perfect.
