So how did #OhioState’s J.J. Sullinger end up donating a kidney to #Buckeyes teammate Terence Dials? Both guys were kind enough to share the story with me. Grab the tissues and give it a read. dispatch.com/story/sports/co…

Rick Pitino explains how paying players has both created more parity in college 🏀 and led to a better product on the floor. Talent is more widely distributed. Making it more important to perform adequate due diligence on players.
"The playing field is level. They're all professional athletes being paid. What's taking place between the lines, the actual play, away from the courts and all the problems we're experiencing, is the best basketball I've seen in 20 years." Rick Pitino on the state of CBB:

Interesting data from @AspenInstSports on the participation numbers of youth sports. Some of this data could be misleading, but there are some clear trends.

Brilliant.
Rick Barnes said today he has an idea for the NCAA. Clear all the fifth-year players looking for eligibility in the courts. Then take all the money that would've been spent on legal fees and give it to the Olympic sports that need it. 🔗 on3.com/teams/tennessee-volu…

Makes sense. But this is the NCAA we’re talking about. History shows it would rather spend money on lawyers to ensure athletes can’t get paid or can’t play, than use that money to benefit athletes.

Tim @TimBrando went to give it to him, arguing for naming #DaleBrownCourt. And he gave it ALL to him. And the court was appropriately, if tardily, named for the great Coach Dale Brown. #RIPDaleBrown #DaddyDale
"He's 85 years old. He's still helping people." An emotional @TimBrando pleads his case for "Dale Brown Court" Friday to the #LSU Board of Supervisors. "I'm biased here. I love Dale Brown." @LSUBasketball @WAFB

This new 5 in 5 lawsuit by a class of 2022 Miami of Ohio women’s 🏀 player makes two arguments. 1. She should be allowed to play under the terms of the new eligibility rule, because it doesn’t exclude the class of 2022. 2. The Ohio executive order makes her eligible.
From Friday: We have our first new case that (in part) tests the Ohio executive order that purports to allow all Class of 2022 athletes eligibility to play this season. The plaintiff is Miami (OH) basketball player Amber Scalia. Super interested to see how this turns out.

Happy 78th birthday to Kentucky’s beloved and iconic Dan Issel! Dan played three seasons at UK and became its all-time leading scorer and rebounder. Records he still holds 56 years later. His professional career spanned 15 years, and when he retired in 1985, he was the 5th leading scorer in professional basketball history and 15th leading rebounder (ABA and NBA combined). Let that sink in. He led his teams to six championship series, including winning the 1975 ABA championship with the Kentucky Colonels. Dan is a great and gracious gentleman whom we can never adequately thank for all the wonderful memories he’s given us. But we can still try. Happy birthday to a legendary human being, Dan Issel!! And thank you!! @abathrowbacks ; @COLCOMEBACK ; @nba2lou
