Something is a bit off here.
Feb 2025 is MFY2024/25. Meaning from Jul 2025 till Jun 2027 the BWTW has been allocated 100 Million Rands. A 99 Million Rands increase over 3 years, from FY2023/24.
And still y'all fail to supply clean water?🤔
The BWTW matter is not a new issue.
In past year, since February 2025, we’ve steadily increased the budget allocated for maintenance and upgrades at the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant by over R100 million. Rand Water has been appointed as an implementing agent.
Only R1 million had been budgeted for maintenance at BWT plant in the previous years- far short of what was needed to maintain an aging facility that is over 60-years old.
We believe the most sincere apology to residents of Region 7, Bronkhorstspruit and surrounding areas, should focus on remedying the situation.

You are preoccupied with illegal immigrants' rhetoric and you forgot to order chlorine.

She's on the ground because the EFF MMC of health just alerted her of her incompetence. She's there to do a damage control. Refusal of releasing funds to buy chlorine for people to drink clean water is a crime. She must be arrested.

Let's not forget the working mayor's role in creating the problem.

I dont know if you are stupid or deliberately acting stupid. EFF MMC is not responsible for technical services. She acted when the health issue came up. Or you think she is responsible for water treatment?

@ActionSATshwane Why must we accompany the Mayor of ActionSA when the Health Department, together with Tshwane District, has been on the ground conducting educational work and community awareness? The Mayor is joining my office, which has been working in Bronkhorstspruit without cameras or publicity. We have our mayor whom we accompanied to Bronkhorspruit.
This is not the time for pictures and political grandstanding. It is a time for accountability and decisive action.
Why is @Flora_Monama01, the MMC for Corporate and Shared Services deployed by ActionSA and the MMC responsible for Region 7, which includes Bronkhorstspruit, not accompanying the Mayor? Why is the responsibility suddenly being shifted to my office when my team has been on the ground doing the work?
More importantly, why is the Group Head of ROC still in office? Given that he reports directly to the Executive Mayor, he should be suspended while the circumstances surrounding this crisis are investigated. Those responsible for ensuring that the water treatment plant was operational and functioning effectively remain in office, despite this being a man made crisis.
What is even more concerning is that if people knew that chlorine was the cause of the problem, why was this information not raised and acted upon sooner? Why were the concerns not addressed before communities were put at risk?
We are educating communities and responding to a crisis that should have been prevented, yet it appears that no one is being held accountable. There must be a transparent investigation into the failures at the plant, including the roles and responsibilities of every official involved.
Accountability must apply equally to everyone, regardless of position or professional connections. Any allegations of preferential treatment or conflicts of interest must be independently investigated rather than ignored.
The people of Bronkhorstspruit deserve answers, decisive action and consequences for those whose negligence or failure to act contributed to this crisis not cameras.
