The Suns are picking up Ighodaro's $2.5M team option for 2027-28, so the extension starts in 2028 and runs through 2031 for the franchise's second-round find who has established into a reliable center.
Phoenix Suns center Oso Ighodaro has agreed to a three-year, $29 million contract extension through the 2030-31 season, his agent Erika Ruiz of Primera Sports tells ESPN.

Just in: Sacramento Kings guard Ben Simmons is believed to have sustained a torn Achilles tendon at practice Sunday, sources tell ESPN. A suspected season-ending injury for Simmons after rejuvenated and impressive training camp and preseason performances.
“I think he's starting to understand his spots on the offensive end. He’s being perfect. He's tossing, he’s making rebounds, hitting plays, hitting threes, rebounding. But yeah, he’s doing all the right things right now.”

Suns guard Jalen Green on turning himself into more of a table-setting point guard and setting up the offense:
"Coming to the league, all you are set out to do is just, score. I'm mixing in here and there just setting up the offense, but I feel like I've had the ball in my hands my whole career. So it's not no different from that aspect. It's just the slowing down process... and not looking for my shot right away in the beginning of the offense, [but] in the flow."

I know rim running is (strongly) desired by most, but there's so much in transition that you can weaponize with your big trailing.
The Suns have some stuff to their transition principles. Starts here with recognition, & playing off a teams shifts to the ball.
Collin Gillespie grab & go. As he hits ahead to Devin Booker, Khaman Maluach flows into the picture. When Lauri Markkanen commits to the nail to stop Booker's drive, it free's Gillespie, & Maluach is in perfect position for the flare advantage.
Talked a lot about the Suns & their usage of flares last season. They're in the toolbox for them again this season.

We’ll be tracking Maluach’s “restocks” (rebounds + steals + blocks) per 36 minutes all season.
For perspective, Wemby averaged 19.2 last season and 17.7 this preseason. Maluach? 16.2 across five games.
Pretty damn encouraging for a 20-year-old big man.

Last season, PHX dropped down to 14 players before opening night by cutting Butler.
He was on a non guaranteed deal & therefore the only real argument for it was tax savings.
The Suns ended up getting below the tax.

By waiving Haywood Highsmith, the Phoenix Suns will drop to $7.9M under their second-apron hard cap.
Phoenix is also keeping Duop Reath by converting him to a two-way contract. That will necessitate a waiver of one of the team's current two-way players.
