I asked Dr. Edward Bell if 22 weeks is truly the limit of viability.
His answer? Maybe not.

This week on The Incubator Podcast, Ben sits down with Dr. Edward Bell from the University of Iowa for our Giants of Neonatology series.
In the clip below, you’ll hear him share his thoughts on the “edges of viability” — and why 22 weeks might not be the limit we think it is. It made me stop and think about what’s next for our field… and it might make you think too.

One week ago, I had the privilege of taking part in the White Coat Ceremony at @NSUMDCollege in my role as Co-Chair of the Division of Pediatrics. I was honored to deliver the Hippocratic Oath and to welcome the Class of 2029 into our noble profession.
Watching these future physicians don their white coats brought me back to the day I first put on mine—and to the journey, challenges, and fulfillment that have followed. As physicians, we are lifelong students and teachers. Education can be demanding, but moments like these remind us why we return to it again and again.
To the NSUMD Class of 2029—welcome to the profession. May you find, in your own journey, the same sense of purpose and fulfillment that being a doctor brings to so many of us each day.

We can't ignore #neonatal pain and stress any longer. This is a call to action to minimize these traumas across a NICU admission. Listen to this #theincubator episode here: buff.ly/S9BzONk
Sometimes being a mentor is just as hard as being a mentee. How do you "thread the needle" balancing support and challenge?! CHeck out @mistygoodlab and @elizabetscrouch as they discuss just that on the latest #atthebench! You can access the full episode here: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…

Thank you to Mario Rudiger for having us on !
🎙️ We recently joined the #NeonatologyNow podcast hosted by the brilliant Prof Dr. Mario Rüdiger!
We had the pleasure of sharing the story behind The Incubator Podcast, our passion for the upcoming Delphi conference, and chatting with Dr. Rüdiger about the differences in neonatal management approaches between the US and Europe.
Thank you, Dr. Rüdiger, for having us! It was great to be on the other side of the microphone this time.
