If you get the chance to teach take it. You don’t have to commit forever. Bring your full passion but also don’t forget to stay out of the way. Give them space to fumble around with what you’re laying out for them.
Anyone else enjoy / get value from teaching.

Question. I live in a small town. I got my purple belt before I moved here. No BJJ gym available here. Been out for a few years. Some friends want me to teach them BJJ at the local gym and want to start a BJJ club. For free. I’ve taught kids a lot and helped with classes. ⬇️
Owning and operating your own academy is the ultimate endgame content for any BJJ journey.
I’ve been training Jiu Jitsu for 23 years, and these last 10 have been the most fruitful. 7 days a week for 10 years straight. Shout out to the locals who keep showing up to train, connect, and grow.
10 years teaching. 10 years training. 10 years in business. Here’s to 10 more.
A night to remember with Master Rilion Gracie. Thanks to everyone who’s been part of it. This place is what it is because of you.

This is a good example of what I mean by a mix-up.
By using this windshield wiper knee slide as a washout, you don’t aim to pass into side control, they will defend side control and you help them overextend their recovery, giving you a mix-up position. From the top, I call it a checkpoint. From this checkpoint/mix-up, you could either pass the legs, go behind, or submit.
The value here is much higher than just being in side control. aiming for this mix-up, this checkpoint, gives you chances for actual effortless. This is what I mean when I say aim for the mix-up.

Interesting that he’s willing to be a white belt in mma but not in Jiu Jitsu anymore.
Has Mikey optimized his Jiu Jitsu so much that he lost the joy of doing it? He’s obviously had a successful career.
Maybe he never enjoyed it. He’s openly admitted that fear of losing drives him to find the fastest, most efficient way to win within the rules. That's a hellacious ritual.
This is not what you want to cultivate as a casual grappler.
Mikey Musumeci guarantees he will make his MMA debut this year:
“I really want to do this. I’m 30 years old. I don’t have that much time left in my life to compete like this, so I don’t want any what-ifs.
I’m loving the MMA training. I’m addicted to it. I want to see how far I can go.
I kind of like being the underdog and having to work my way up and being a student of the game again. I love feeling like I’m a white belt again. I have to learn.”
