In early 1977, the New York Times closed its bureau in Tehran, which left the paper with no reporters in Iran. 1977 was a significant moment in Iran’s history; political opposition was gaining momentum and the US had an “unprecedented economic and strategic relationship” to Iran:
The New York Times and the rest of the prestige press throughout 1953 routinely called Mossadegh a “dictator.” By contrast, the NYT only used that label three times from 1953-78 to describe the shah:

Among the articles I edited at @DropSiteNews last week was a report from Sudan on a drone strike, apparently by RSF, that killed 26 women, four children, and two elders — the most thorough reporting on that murderous attack in the Anglophone press. You should read it, @LizHurra.
Replying to @OzKaterji
someone (can't recall their name or gender even) announced recently they're leaving the NYT to join DropSite. That was so bizarre. Leave the best paper in the world for an Iranian propaganda outlet? Who does that?

This is from an episode of Law & Order SVU 26 years ago where they casually claim that 75% of all murders in Gaza and the West Bank were honor killings. Just making up insane statistics about Palestinians and passing them off as facts on national television. Imagine how much of this bullshit Americans have been fed for decades.
Highly recommend these three books by @normansolomon. Taken together, a scathing and detailed indictment of US corporate media’s mostly uncritical coverage of US imperialism

I have lived in China since 1995.
I saw the poverty with my own eyes. Then I watched it disappear.
This chart going viral today tells the story > China extreme poverty: 91.3% in 1984.
Zero by 2022. No colour revolution.
No IMF lectures. No NGOs.
Planning, roads, factories, schools. And the West still calls it a "failed system"….

Protesters in Montpellier, France unveil a banner that reads:
“The People Will Triumph!”
The working class is humanity’s last line of defense against the neoliberal and neofascist politicians who work together to sell us out to the billionaire class and the war machine.

The US official meant to hold Israel accountable when terrorists nearly kill an American journalist has his family company offering $5800 trips to meet "top Israeli officials."
Old materials show a trip set for Feb 2025.
After he was already nominated to be Ambassador to Israel.
Mike Huckabee's family company is offering $5800+ trips to Israel, so tourists can meet "top Israeli officials."
Plus: he promised his Huck PAC would go "dormant" if he became Ambassador to Israel.
That didn't happen.
It raised $4.5M over the past 2 years.zeteo.com/p/the-israel-exper…

X has suspended the account of academic and researcher @MujammaHaraket whose writings and translation projects about Palestine are essential historical works that fall clearly within the public interest. This ban should be reversed immediately.

More outrageous censorship by @elonmusk @x!
@MujammaHaraket is a meticulous researcher and has written rock solid articles for @intifada.
Was he banned for journalism challenging mainstream misinformation? Reverse this now!
This should sound familiar. The New York Times at first refused to put its reporters in Iran during the recent war, citing harsh press restrictions, as I wrote about for FAIR: fair.org/home/nyt-covers-ira…
The first team of NYT journalists allowed into Iran went in early July to cover Ayatollah Khameini’s funeral: nytimes.com/2026/07/25/world…
The NYT instead relied on Iranian stringers (mostly in Beirut and Cairo) or reporters/correspondents who parachuted into Iran for several weeks, per Dorman and Farhang.
