While the time pressure is 99% of tetris, Coming up with the correct configuration for the tetris pieces is non-trivial even with infinite time. It's still not a solved game, it's NP-complete.
But also I don't think either of these are puzzle games. They are strategy games.

Would you say timed chess is also an action game then?

A coin will converge to 50% T, 50% H, but the actual distribution of H and T is very unlikely to be a million H and then a million T, there are many more random-looking strings of H and T.
Equal probability of being generated is not equal probability of being seen
There are many more complex strings than simple strings, so odds of getting a simple string from a key generator are tiny.
You are confusing the probability of classes (the way the number looks) with the probability of individuals (the actual number). Only the latter is uniform
Sonic fans trying to make this about skill issues to distract you from the fact that most of the level just stops you from running for no reason, completely killing the momentum of a game that's meant to be about going fast

The lack of attack button is the problem, the only thing about it that can be called a "game" is the very thin challenge of picking the correct items. Other than that it is just gambling, which I think is more shameless than evil.

I hate how true this is. followed begrudgingly
The problem with twitter's "attention is all you need" service model is that simple ideas like "video games are sometimes a waste of time" have to be turned into contempt-fuelled aggressive statements like "if you play video games you have sacrificed your soul" to engagementmaxx

Absolutely, but one does not need to phrase this feeling with such totalising contempt.

The cherry on top is that the developer of vampire survivors used to work on gambling machines making them as addictive as possible lmao... shameless

Yeah that is true, my only argument is that the reaction window is slightly too narrow. A larger window + less totalitarian obstacles would trade a menial "trial and error" challenge for the full ability to go as faster which seems more in spirit of the game.
Replying to @jortsmajeure
This is fair, but this idea will only bear fruit for people who want to replay levels enough times to learn them, while first-time players are punished for going fast, which seems antithetical.
The question is why is the focus of the challenge on memory rather than reactivity?

I think we have similar ideas but to me realism is ONE form of immersion which is optional. You can still have an unrealistic game which is immersive if you establish a convincing and cohesive universe within unrealistic boundaries. Devil Daggers unrealistic but immersive, say.

But it doesn't serve the same function
- people naturally react differently to gun shots than they do to duck noises
- gun sounds give more indication of direction and distance, which lower pitch noises do not
These are real immersive gameplay differences, not just flavour

parrying gameplay is uninteresting because it asks very little of the player outside of the timing check and the reason something like sekiro is enjoyable is in spite of the parrying and by the virtue of how good they are at framing it through sound, animation and spectacle
You talk about immersion like it's something separate from gameplay. Immersion IS gameplay, the level of connectivity a player feels will influence the way they go about navigating your ruleset.
Your issue is with forced realism, which is in conflict with the ruleset.

Good point about RTS, althought I suspect those are influenced by a heavy dose of historical larp, just speaking from 4x experince. FPS are totally undermined by immersion as a value from the start, the desire for the games to on some level represent irl sensibilities
Immersion is just a way of improving player connectedness to the game so that each action carries more real emotional weight.
Gun sounds are a form of immersion that is essential to gameplay, for example. You couldn't just replace them with duck noises and have the same game.
