Abubakarr Barrie, 23, picked up the teen in Baltimore on October 22 for what she thought was a ride to a restaurant in an unlicensed cab.
He instead drove her to his basement residence, restrained her, stripped her clothes, and st*bbed her multiple times according to charging documents.

The girl fought back with a fire extinguisher, escaped barefoot and without clothes, and reached help nearby. She suffered a collapsed lung and multiple wounds but is expected to survive.
Barrie was arrested two days later and held without bond on charges including attempted first-degree m*rder and kidnapping.

DHS stated Barrie entered illegally through Arizona in December 2023, was released by the Biden administration, and was later freed by New York authorities despite an ICE detainer after a prior arrest. ICE has now lodged a new detainer.

ICE says an immigration judge had already ordered his deportation, but U.S. District Judge Orlando L. Garcia granted his release on due process grounds, allowing him to return to Minnesota.

HSI Tulsa arrested a Filipino national on alleged federal election fraud, false citizenship claims, and false statements in voter registration. They registered to vote in 2022 by falsely claiming U.S. citizenship under oath, voted in the November 2022 federal primary election, and were subsequently arrested while returning home from work while their naturalization application was pending.
