Ever wondered how model quantization (FP16, Q8, Q4) *really* affects performance? There's an analogy that makes the trade-offs crystal clear... and it involves something you might drink. 😉🍺 Kudos to @jtdavies for this brilliant comparison. 🙏 See the image for the full explanation! 👇

Take the @opencode hack where API keys were stolen and many $$$ were spent as a warning to check your API keys, even if you don't use OpenCode. Open your OpenAI, Anthropic, and other provider accounts: • Revoke old keys you no longer use. • Rotate any keys that may have been exposed. • For active keys, review your spending limits. For OpenAI, make sure the spending limit is actually enforced, not just an email alert. The screenshot shows where to enable this. An alert is useful, but if someone abuses your key overnight, you may wake up to the bill before you can stop it.

FUCK OpenCode got hacked 😳 how will they compensate us for the losses?

Wait, OpenAI only delivered 30 token per second?! And now 50 TPS means my latest local AI is experiments with Qwen3.8-flash-next is now on par with the speed I get from OpenAI. 😳
Replying to @thsottiaux
Reaching 50 TPS instead of 30TPS, with also the most optimized tokenizer out there. And the models are quite the efficient ones in terms of number of tokens needed to get things done!

Side-by-side test of qwen3.8-flash-next running locally: • AMD Strix Halo 128GB with Halogen by @high52weeks • RTX 3090 desktop with 94 GB of memory, using Strata by @coldniko Both at ~50 tok/s and it feels good to power my Hermes agent with it for privacy-sensitive tasks. 👇

The distilled version of Kokoro-82M with only 8 million parameters sounds crazy good. Loving it! It's just crazy what's today possible to run on local consumer hardware. 👏
Kokoro TTS, but 10× smaller 🫰 Paradee distills Kokoro-82M into a 8M-param TTS just 9 MB of weights can speak faster than real time on a single CPU thread and runs on your toaster ▶️ on Spaces hf.co/spaces/hugging-apps/pa…

Open-weights models are closing in on TypeSafe's Jev As @_rchaves_ pointed out on LinkedIn, Jev's lead as a decision model is already under pressure: several open-weight models are close behind and ahead on some tasks. I recreated Rogerio's LangWatch benchmark (11 tasks, same public datasets) on my M5 Pro Mac mini and ran all 15 open models through it. The best was Shisa DE-1, about 6 points behind Jev's published average, and level with or ahead of it on several tasks. The 4B-class models were only a few points further back, running locally at around 120 ms per decision. I then ran Shisa through the 9 use cases from @MatthewBerman's video, against a simple local reproduction of Jev's approach on a 4B model. The results were almost identical (5 ties, 2 wins each), with Shisa at a little over half the speed. Under two weeks after Jev's launch, that's very exciting.

Jev from @typesafeai can unlock companies Dark Data. Large companies have vast stores of dark data they want to analyze but previously found too expensive to process, creating a major opportunity for practical AI systems. Shared by @CompleteSkeptic in the @latentspacepod

Jev is way better at stating that the answer is not clear than any LLM. The "I don't f* know" reply finally becomes real. 👌 Shared by @CompleteSkeptic on the @latentspacepod 👇
Jev and the System One Model: RLCD, intelligence/$, reliable AI, & the end of chat-first AI latent.space/p/jev @typesafeai CEO @CompleteSkeptic explains why AI can solve extraordinarily hard problems yet still fail to automate basic work, why Jev is built for reliable decisions inside software instead of chat, why TypeSafe rejects public benchmarks and refusals at the API layer, why data and the right task matter more than brute-force compute, how System One Models could reshape coding agents and software, and why even with $1 billion he wouldn’t pre-train a model from scratch.

Looking forward to talk later today to my AI buddies and everyone else who is interested in these topics. 👇 Sidenote: I don't have the best internet connection right now and hope it works. 🤞 xitter.cf/i/spaces/1nGnRBeNqwmGO

The ChatGPT desktop app for Linux is now in preview! I signed up for the waitlist but had to stumble across this myself. Officially provided as .rpm and .deb, but already available repackaged in the CachyOS (Arch) repository.

What a crazy week for open-weight LLMs DeepSeek-V4-Pro is a 1.4T model so not something I'm going to be running locally but having the choice, and the ability to literally own it, is where open-weight models win.
We’re launching DeepSeek-V4-Pro today! 🚀 🔷 Major Agent upgrades with strong production gains! 🔷 Flexible reasoning effort for V4-Pro & V4-Flash: low for simple tasks, high for daily Agent workflows, max for complex tasks. 🔷 Native OpenAI Responses API support, optimized for Codex with one-click setup. V4 Pro is now available on app/web. Try it via “Expert Mode”. V4 Pro is also available via API. Model names remain unchanged—please refer to the API docs for setup details.
