As a father and grandfather, I want the same for every girl as I want for my own daughters and granddaughters: to grow up healthy, safe, and free to pursue their dreams. But the reality for millions of girls is very different. Every year, around 21 million adolescent girls become pregnant in low- and middle-income countries. One in four girls who have been in a relationship experiences physical or sexual violence from a partner. And many girls still miss out on vaccines that could protect them from cervical cancer later in life. These are not just statistics.
