This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing by Finegan Kruckemeyer made its Canadian debut at SJR in May. This contemporary fairy tale encouraged collaboration between student artists, resulting in a unique show full of both funny and poignant moments.

& last week, when I wrote him to say his ears must be burning from the countless Sondheim kindnesses being shared from the generations of writers he mentored, he wrote this in reply.
Steve: you repaid your debt to Oscar 1000 times over. We love you. I love you. THANK YOU. -LMM
ALT Stephen Sondheim: Thanks for the nice boost to my spirits, Lin. It's an aspect of my life I'm proud of. I feel as if I've repaid (partially, at least) what I owe Oscar.

Future historians: Stephen Sondheim was real. Yes, he wrote Tony & Maria AND Sweeney Todd AND Bobby AND George & Dot AND Fosca AND countless more. Some may theorize Shakespeare's works were by committee but Steve was real & he was here & he laughed SO loud at shows & we loved him
"An intellectually rigorous artist who perpetually sought new creative paths, Mr. Sondheim was the theater’s most revered and influential composer-lyricist of the last half of the 20th century, if not its most popular."
Thank you, Stephen Sondheim.

Martha Henry joined the Festival in 1962, playing Miranda to William Hutt’s Prospero in The Tempest. Nearly 60 years later, in her 44th season, she took on the role of Prospero. The first Shakespeare production at the Tom Patterson Theatre will be dedicated to her memory ❤️

Theatre can show us who we are, who we were and who we could be.
It means imagining bigger, understanding better, feeling together.
Happy #WorldTheatreDay 🎉
