His innings of 24 & 62 in the opening round of the Sheffield Shield came batting at 7 🏏📈!

It’s now 13 🏏 innings since Fergus O’Neill failed to reach double figures. He’s scored 5x50 in that time plus 47 & 36*. His career ave. is up to 27.23. Should he score another couple of 50s in this season’s Sheffield Shield, he’s an all-rounder (For the purposes of📱) for me 🏏!

After a strong first season in county cricket, Caleb Jewell didn’t really back it up (380 County Championship runs @ 22.35). However, the 29-year-old has kicked off the Sheffield Shield season with scores of 50 and 88 back in the opener position 🏏🇦🇺📈!

In amongst all the Australian players that have featured in county cricket in recent times, I would’ve thought that Henry Thornton would court some attention. Whether it be for red ball, white ball or both 🔴⚪️🇦🇺✍️🤷🏼‍♂️!

Off the Sussex departures, Ward is the most surprising. You’d think they could offer a T20 contract for such a destructive player ⚪️✍️🤷🏼‍♂️! Interested to see if Daniel Hughes plays professionally again and disappointed for Nantes Oosthuizen for obvious reasons 🐘💦🇫🇷😢!

I’m a huge Nic Maddinson fan but I did not see this coming… against 🇿🇦 again as well. It looked a real struggle when I watched him bat on debut. Hopefully he’s stronger for his experiences on and off the pitch! Sam Harper a more expected selection. Great to see for both 🏏🇦🇺!

Nic Maddinson, who underwent treatment for testicular cancer last year, has been called up to Australia’s Test squad in South Africa along with uncapped wicketkeeper Sam Harper. Maddinson, who previously played three Tests against South Africa and Pakistan in 2016, has yet to play a first-class match since undergoing chemotherapy in mid-2025.

Mason Crane made his T20I debut in 2017 and his Test debut in 2018. The leg-spinner looks set to make his ODI debut in 2026! James Coles is also back in an England squad and in line for an international debut. The same goes for his former(ish) Sussex teammate Henry Crocombe!

There were signs leading up to last season’s Big Bash that Sam Harper was on the up. He was scoring runs across formats then struck a century early in the competition. He scored quick runs in Sri Lanka and now has a century for Australia A 🔴⚪️🇦🇺📈!
