Where do players' points come from in Fantrax Default Scoring? A #DraftPL Thread: Let's start with all Outfielders. Key Passes (worth 2 points) rule the roost; they are twice as valuable as all categories except goals, aerials, and tackles won.

GW17 was the first gameweek this season where goalkeepers were the top position in #DraftPL. It was also the first time this season that defenders averaged over 7 PPS, thanks to a season high eight clean sheets. Don't expect it to last!

An update on how the frequency of Fantrax Default Scoring categories have changed over time. Firstly, here's the change since last season. Data from Opta via FBRef. Crosses ('C') replace the unavailable ACNCs. #DraftPL

The Premier League has never seen anything like the current goal rate. For more detailed analysis, check out this from Opta Analyst: buff.ly/41kMs6C

Looking at average points per start by FBRef position, we're in the odd position where 4 of the 6 FBRef designations are below average, 3 of them comfortably so. Antony, a man with 0 goals/assists this season, has a better PPS than all but the top 11 centre-backs (8+ starts).

Great to finally see an article on this. It's not just the Premier League!
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲 🎉 Premier League games have averaged 3.16 goals per game this season so far, the highest average in an English top-flight season since 1964-65. @alitweedale looks at the data to see if 2023-24 can smash records.

Enzo has been a mainstay in Unwanted Records since GW3. Finally off the mark in the premier league.

Surely this is nonsense @FootballCliches. Pope was standing off his line; nowhere close to “in net”.
Raz sends a dipping free-kick over the wall, leaving Pope stranded in net. 🎯 ⚫️ 1-1 🔵 [23] #NewChe

Suggesting this could be a ‘moral victory’ for Spurs is surely a new low for the media’s Postecoglu infatuation. Thankfully Crafton was a voice of reason.
Perhaps Tottenham were the REAL winners despite last nights match against Chelsea? join me @AdamCrafton_ @CDEccleshare & @liam_twomey as we try find any logic from yesterdays Monday Madness: 🚨ATHLETIC FOOTBALL PODCAST🚨 pod.fo/e/1ff87b

Goals per game showing no signs of slowing down. 1.67 goals per team from today’s matches so far.

Let's start with the most important stat. Teams are scoring more goals than in previous seasons, but the xG average (1.52) suggests this could be even higher.

Strikers (9.0) at least have the most important category as their largest source of FPts, but the fact they (and all other positions) get double the amount of points from key passes than they do from assists is hard to justify.

Thanks for reading. Do you have concerns about the increasing imbalance between positions in Fantrax Default Scoring? Has your league made scoring adjustments as a result? Or do you not care? I'd love to hear either way.
