Many books on autism tell you about autism. This book is different it discusses you, how it will change you, how you can choose do things differently, work around gatekeepers, get financial discounts (on council tax for example), access social security and direct payments

Even if there were jobs there are 3 issues: 1. Autistic & ADHD people need to be offered jobs 2. Interviews are done wrong for autistic people 3. Most people, especially managers, are scared of autism.

Even if all the kids diagnosed with autism and ADHD theoretically could work in later life with the right support, the problem is twofold. Firstly, there are no jobs anyway, not even for every nondisabled neurotypical person who needs one, and secondly a significant proportion society don't seem to want to fund the required in-work help. In other words, they can't win.

Ah the magic pill at 16 that cures all known disabilities. Is that why there are no services for autistic adults?

Look at this chart 👇 Many if not most of the children on DLA will go onto PIP. Around half of children who get DLA become NEETs. There’s a clear path from child DLA to PIP to a lifetime on benefits. We must change this.

Dear folks, You have a successful career, have no quarry, no anxiety, no bundles etc but think you are autistic how can you represent the majority of autistic people? In my world you can’t. Back off when you criticise unpaid carers, professionals & struggling autistic people.

The logic of professionals when it comes to autism. Autistic chap offered 12 sessions of MH support, missed session 2 because bad MH meant total dysregulation & shutdown. NHS prof informed in time by unpaid carer. Consequence - discharged as NOT engaging.

Today I learnt that an autistic youngster was denied support for their worsening anxiety because it was blamed on autism. Help will only be offered when they reach the pit of despair & probable no return. Why is it this way?

Thieves that smoke drugs in class 🤔 1 helpful girl with clear signs of abuse in the home setting. They enjoy TB's lessons as it's an escape from that & she's sorry TB has to put up with the other kids? It's a LIE 🚩
