I think I’ve made up my mind.
Marques Brownlee (@MKBHD) has succumbed to mainstream media propaganda, allowed his political beliefs to bleed into his opinions on tech, and become a bit of an envious, biased shill.
I’m not the only one who’s noticed this, but the nail in the coffin for me was how he reacted to the @Tesla Roadster unveiling (among other things). Marques used to be excited about it a few years ago, and now all he seems to do is belittle Tesla and everything Elon does. Maybe he’s being influenced by the guys on his podcast.
Either way, it’s sad to see. His channel used to be great, but now I can’t trust a word he says. It’s like opening a loaf of bread and finding mould on one slice… I throw the whole thing away because it’s tainted. That’s how I feel about MKBHD now. His opinion just doesn’t hold any weight anymore because it’s been infected with something rotten. Even his tech “reviews” lack the soul they once had. It’s difficult to explain, but I know a lot of you have noticed it too.
Did he lose his passion for it? Or are his personal views causing him to push narratives that align with them?
It’s not a good look, and like I said, it’s sad to see, but this dude has lost all credibility in the space.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
(I know some people might say “lol you’re a tiny creator, you’re just jealous of Marques.” I can assure you I’m not. Writing a post like this only harms me in the tech world, but I’m not here to kiss large creator ass; I’m here to be honest, so that’s what I’m doing.)

This paragraph by C.S. Lewis, written in 1948, still hits hard:
“If we are all going to be destroyed by an atomic bomb, let that bomb when it comes find us doing sensible and human things—praying, working, teaching, reading, listening to music, bathing the children, playing tennis, chatting to our friends over a pint and a game of darts—not huddled together like frightened sheep and thinking about bombs. They may break our bodies (a microbe can do that) but they need not dominate our minds.”

“well actually, we can infer a reward function from aggregated human preferences, regularize it with constitutional constraints, and ensure value stability under recursive self-improvement…”
brother, what the fuck is human wellbeing?
whose wellbeing? according to which morality? who decides when values conflict?
a whole grand circlejerk of nerds who think they’re smarter than everyone else when telling the model to follow the Bible would probably be a more honest attempt at solving the problem

Replying to @LikeableSean
Love and care are action verbs, not mere feelings. Adults are suppose to choose to love and care for their spouse, even when they don’t feel like it.
I think all AI agents will find their way into becoming a normie’s @home_assistant
I used to run a pretty comprehensive home lab for a couple of years. I ended up moving a few months ago and just didn't want to go through the process of setting *everything* back up again.
I got @bot connected to my NAS, told it the services I wanted, it created the services, bootstrapped everything and had it all running within an hour. I did almost nothing.
Home labs used to be niche because the knowledge and time they take to maintain. This is no longer the case

Slop-forked T3 Code and ripped out the multi-harness ACP stuff and replaced it with just Pi Durable. Claude models run through a custom Claude bridge hack. The fun has just begun! 🙌
