This is so embarrassing. The EU is funding queer theorists to go around to research institutes and tell them about “gender” ideology, which is anti-science activist nonsense. This photo was taken at a Greek institute for *molecular biology* research. The general gender explainers on the board are the usual vague mean-nothing feel-good pablum. But the table is covered in queer identity pamphlets and lots of “intersex” material (intersex is not real!!!) @EUScienceInnov

@JohnSwinney This is very sad and l feel sorry for Katie Long. She took a derelict pub in Scone, your local, she poured £140,000 of her own money into it. She built a business she meant to retire in, and hand to her son. Your government then put the rates up from £19,900 to £52,700. That, on top of an electricity bill that had already gone from £25,000 to £100,000, was the end of it. She asked for help. She went to Holyrood. You would not even meet her. England eased the rates. Northern Ireland paused them. Scotland, under the man who lives three miles away, did nothing. She leaves in January calling herself a failure. She is not. You taxed the poor woman's dream out of existence, then looked the other way. You could've watched the Scotland game in your local and donated the £100000 to her. But no, you think you are so high and mighty. Scotland Grim Reaper strikes again:-

French police just called me regarding a supposed abduction of an illegal migrant. I quickly corrected them. The Englishmen being accused of abducting him were, according to what I’ve been told, actually trying to help him. The man himself told them he was being raped by another migrant. He asked them to take him to a train station, which they did. They also gave him food and money to make sure he was safe. They even took a selfie with him. Hardly the actions you’d expect from people supposedly planning to abduct someone in broad daylight. Apparently a charity witnessed what happened and contacted the police about both the men and me. I have no idea what they thought was happening, but it certainly makes for an unusual phone call from the French authorities. Maybe they lost a customer and weren’t too happy about it? Not exactly an everyday conversation to have with the police.

This is not the Woman of the Day post but I thought you might like to know that OTD in 1861, Isabella Beeton’s The Book of Household Management was published. Isabella, born in 1836 in Marylebone, started working on her book in monthly instalments at the age of 21. Her aim was to help others to tackle the many demands of domestic management but she confessed she’d never have started it if she’d realised it would be so much work. Her half-sister Lucy Smiles said, “No recipe went into the book without a successful trial, and the home at Pinner was the scene of many experiments and some failures. I remember Isabella coming out of the kitchen one day, 'This won't do at all,' she said, and gave me the cake that had turned out like a biscuit. I thought it very good. It had currants in it.” Some of her cookery tips were so odd that it would be a brave person who would swear by them these days. Mrs Beeton, like many others at the time, was sceptical about unfamiliar food. Mangoes allegedly tasted like turpentine, lobsters were indigestible, garlic was offensive, potatoes were "suspicious; a great many are narcotic, and many are deleterious". Carrots should be boiled for two hours but parsnips for only 90 minutes. Cheese could only be consumed by sedentary people, and tomatoes were either good or bad, depending on which bit of the book you read. Pasta, she declared with conviction, should be boiled for one and three-quarter hours. I like to think that Mrs Beeton would have thoroughly approved when avocados were first introduced to the UK in 1968. They were marketed as avocado pears and people served them as a dessert. With custard. Even so, Isabella Beeton qualifies as the country’s first domestic goddess and as an accidental social diarist for putting together the first comprehensive encyclopaedia of household management (her cleaning tips used natural products well ahead of their time) and providing us with a fascinating glimpse into Victorian life.

It's hard to imagine that this was Kabul, Afghanistan only a few decades ago. Women and girls could walk free, learn, and live in public. Look at Afghanistan now. The UK and Europe are not immune to this.

So why did you and your government remain so quiet on this issue? Scotland has reached its highest level of sexual crime since records began, yet we continue to hear of sexual assaults and rapes — even in broad daylight. Glasgow has been particularly horrific, including around the Four Corners, where concerns have been raised repeatedly. What once would have been front-page news is now fading into the background because it is happening so often.  Women don't feel safe. This should have been acted on — or at the very least, commented on — long ago. Yet many politicians remain quiet on violence against women at the hands of men. But when it comes to allowing men into women's spaces, many suddenly find their voice and speak up in favour of it. The willingness of people — including our politicians — to embrace this ideology, despite the risks it creates for women, is PART of the epidemic you speak about. How can the government speak of an epidemic of violence against women in one breath, while supporting men entering vulnerable, single-sex spaces where women expect to be among women — and may have gone precisely for their safety — in the next?
Violence against women and girls is an epidemic and I have pledged my personal leadership to tackling it - that means listening and driving urgent action across government and society. This morning I will be taking your calls on BBC Radio Scotland on this issue.

Avon and Somerset Police responded to an address on Becket Road, Worle, as part of an ongoing fraud investigation. During their search, officers arrested a man in his 70s on suspicion of fraud by false representation. The search revealed suspicious substances and items, prompting a 100-metre cordon. Police evacuated around 153 properties, and an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended the scene. Officers tested some items and subsequently destroyed them. By 10:00 PM, police reported that searches were still underway, and the cordon remained in place. Support services for those affected were available at Castle Batch Children’s Centre. The incident impacted several roads, including Becket Road, Wesley Drive, Courtenay Walk, Becket Drive, Christian Close, The Larches, Cabot Way, and Wynter Close. – at Jacobs Well, England

Oof - this one hits hard. If Dr P is right, anyone who affirmed a 'trans' colleague made things worse for them. Horrifying to think that employers forced their staff to do this for YEARS - and many are still doing it. Link to @Psychgirl211's unflinching new interview ⬇️
