We’re all excited about the moderates and moderation but you have to pause and observe that this is factually completely wrong slopulism
Talarico argues pro-business really means pro-big business, socialism for the rich, rugged individualism for everyone else
“I've seen that when people talk about being pro-business, what that usually means is being pro-big business, right?”
“we basically subsidize Walmart through Medicaid because they don't give their employees quality healthcare.”
“So again, socialism for the rich, rugged individualism for the rest of us.”
“And this is not a radical vision. It's what we had before.”

Guys, their statement is not meant to be an apology. They’re being completely facetious and having another laugh. They aren’t apologizing about the notion of digging up Kirk’s corpse and defiling it but about using a gun to do so. They are the definition of filth.
Twitter libs misunderstanding the US tax code and being aghast at it is why we’ll never have socialism here. Denmark actually does tax income over $5,400 at 12%. If you think 10% on $13k is a scandal you simply don’t have the bleeding heart for socialism.
Mr. Bukele I have it on good authority Haitian gang leaders are hiding out at this location in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Please destroy it next. This is not my mother-in-law’s house.
As with everyone else, God is allowed in the public sphere as long as He’s a Democrat.
I mean, they do harm manufacturing by making inputs more expensive, and supporters of the tariffs (🙋🏻♂️) should acknowledge that while explaining its temporary and costs will come down as domestic supply comes online, as happens with e.g. dishwashers a decade ago.
Something striking: when you dig into the recent manufacturing employment gains, they're in sectors that have high tariffs. For example, fabricated metals added 29,000 jobs since December 2025 with an average tariff of 25%. People love to claim that tariffs harm manufacturing by making inputs expensive, but that's tough to see in the employment data. Graph:
Erickson adopts the David French template that pretty much guarantees access to the NYTs op-ed page: “I’m on the Right. How This One Obscure & Irrelevant Weirdo Explains the GOP.” Then 1,000 words eviscerating the obscure & irrelevant weirdo. It’s a half-step above strawmanning.
The way we know this isn’t true is that Trump already eliminated tariffs on broad swaths of food imports a year ago and nobody noticed. The effect was negligible to non-existent. I’ll repeat it til I’m hoarse but the tariffs’ impact on consumer prices just isn’t that significant.
Among the single worst vanity and "I know best" decisions of Trump 2.0 was the tariff regime Trump insisted on putting in place.
He's married to tariff's not as an economic policy tool, but as a diplomatic tool. They are his "whip" in his "Carrot and whip" approach to foreign policy. And he employs them without much regard for the economic damage they inside the U.S.
They are irrational and malevolent tools the way they have been used, with not enough attention paid to the way they exacerbated the problem of inflation.
The easiest step to bringing down the cost of some consumer goods, including food items, is to dramatically scale back the tariffs on imports.
What this tells me is the GOP will have a much easier transition to its post-Trump era than previously assumed. Trump won’t haunt the party like Obama. Everyone’s ready to move on. To borrow from Gwyneth, there won’t be a divorce but a conscious uncoupling.
There’s about a 1-2 quarter lag between the economy and public sentiment. I remember Democratic pundits getting extremely angry literally *the day* BLS released data showing wages were finally outpacing inflation because voters weren’t giving Biden credit for it lol
Oh, phew!! These kids came dangerously close to cultural literacy. Thankfully the Democrats can nip this misadventure in erudition right in the bud!
“We very badly want to pass this bill but we can’t clear the 60 vote threshold so we’ll pass it with 50” is how Dems went from 59 seats to losing the Senate in 4 years. Yes, the filibuster protects the minority, but it also protects the majority from itself.
They tried but overcoming the negative sentiment triggered by the war you supported was a tough climb! (Jonah’s only opposition to Iran was procedural: Trump should have asked Congress.)
The Democrats’ Big Tent:
Very sharp as usual from @ZaidJilani on one instance of supposed division in the new Democratic majority.
The notable thing about corruption was that it was a high-priority issue but the Dem advantage was much softer than on Iran or cost-of-living. ‘Corruption’ isn’t just Trumpian pay-to-play but Somali fraud and NGO malfeasance. There’s an opportunity for the GOP here.
3% down isn’t the baffling thing here—3% is already standard for first-time buyers—but that they’ll let you take out a second mortgage for another 17%. Why? Is interest on the second less than private mortgage insurance? What is the point of this?
Ah, yes. Rural states and their notorious opposition to protectionist policies like tariffs 🙄
Rural states were hammered by the Ukraine war driving up the cost of fertilizer and Iran driving up diesel.
