Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem: “I don’t know of any peaceful protestor that shows up with a gun and ammunition rather than a sign.” Here are four peaceful protests my staff and I have covered at the Ohio Statehouse, from 4/10/20, 1/17/21, 8/24/21 and 7/18/20

Thanks for highlighting this. Tomorrow’s MN Star’s front page. THIS is America in 2026: ⭐️Children as young as 5 used as “bait” & detained by ICE ⭐️Protesters pinned to the ground as a chemical irritant is sprayed directly into the face— no doubt causing the person to inhale it deep in her/his lungs. ⭐️A Somali-American citizen arrested, shackled & held for 2 days. ⭐️A preschooler taken — the 4th detention in one district. ⭐️ICE claiming enhanced power to enter homes, violating 4th Amendment rights. ⭐️Noem claims ICE agents are “very highly trained” and “the “most gifted individuals in these operations.” Such B.S. Accountability keeps shrinking while state force expands.

Take a moment to look at the inhumanity captured in this extraordinary photo running on the front page of tonight's Minneapolis @StarTribune. It shows federal immigration agents immobilizing a protester on the ground and spraying chemical irritant directly into his face. The scene reminds me of the brutality used against civil rights protesters in the 1960s. We look back at those old photos and wonder how the authorities could have behaved so savagely; many years from now, young Americans will look at these photos from 2026 and wonder how anyone could have justified shooting a woman in the head as she tried to drive away, arresting 5-year-old schoolchildren on the street, or holding a man down and spaying chemicals into his face. Thanks to the Star Tribune reporters and photographers for documenting this work; they create accountability, they make democracy work, and they make all of us in journalism proud.

33 white men, 6 women “fighting for Ohio’s future,” according to @FrankLaRose. His pictures on social media are consistent.
Enjoyed spending time with the @OhioYRs at their Christmas party this evening in Columbus! These young conservatives are strong leaders and consistently fight for Ohio’s future!

Never in 54 years has my line been this long. Ward 3, City of Green. Upscale suburb in Northeast Ohio, leans slightly Republican. @beaconjournal

This is so good. LeBron James just explained why he endorsed VP Harris: “Having a daughter, wife, mother, what VP believes in when it comes to women’s rights, I feel like that endorsement is only right. Damn sure aren’t going the other way.” Watch & share.

It is beyond comprehension that a person hoping to gain favor with the general population would do this.
Ask yourself: what would happen if Kamala Harris did this? Yes. You saw right. This is Trump on stage at a rally, pretending to perform a sex-act on a microphone. This is not normal. Trump is disgusting, unhinged and unfit to represent the United States. Vote him out.

"We're withholding our endorsement because our owner is frightened of government retaliation if Donald Trump wins" is a more forceful and eloquent statement than any newspaper editorial ever written.

By deciding not to editorialize, @washingtonpost and @latimes are violating rule 1 of Timothy Snyder's warnings "On Tyranny." 1. Do not obey in advance. Most of the power of authoritarianism is freely given. In times like these, individuals think ahead about what a more repressive government will want, and then offer themselves without being asked. A citizen who adapts in this way is teaching power what it can do.

Punishing the great, hard working reporters at the @washingtonpost for the decisions made by ownership is staggeringly misguided. Also reflects the all-too-common misunderstanding of the wall between the journalism and opinion sections in cornerstone outlets like The Post.

Donald Trump could not be clearer about his plans to use the Justice Department to seek revenge against his enemies if he wins in November. Legal experts warn that the former president could follow through on his threats if he is re-elected. nyti.ms/3NGz7iO
