Two years ago today, Rhiannon Skye Whyte finished her shift and walked to the station to get home to her little boy. She never made it. A man staying at the same hotel followed her onto the platform and stabbed her again and again with a screwdriver. Many of the wounds were to her head. She never woke up. Three days later she was gone. She was 27. A mum. Just trying to get through her day and get back to her son. Today marks two years since that night. We remember her. We say her name. Protesters climbed all over the Battle of Britain War Memorial and trampled the wreaths laid for our fallen… and now someone’s selling a “Palestine Poppy” in Palestinian flag colours to deliberately hijack Remembrance Day. The red poppy has been for our war dead since the first Poppy Appeal on 11 November 1921. That’s 105 years. It’s not a political tool. Wearing one of these is a direct insult to the British soldiers who gave their lives for this country. He’s right. Leave the poppy alone.
