At #EASD2026, Erik Werson highlights that diabetes education must go beyond knowing your blood glucose to knowing what to do about it. AI could provide personalised insights and practical guidance - but access to the technology is key.

2️⃣ Tirzepatide 10 and 15mg vs 7.2mg semaglutide for obesity via indirect comparison of SURMOUNT-5 and STEP UP, as both trials involved 2.4mg semaglutide as a reference point.
▪️In the treatment regimen estimand (TRE) tirzepatide 10 and 15 mg were associated with statistically greater reductions from baseline in weight (%) vs semaglutide 7.2 mg: mean difference (95% CI) for 10 mg -3.17 (-5.01, -1.40) and 15 mg -4.51 (-6.31, -2.80) (Table 1).
▪️Tirzepatide 15 mg was associated with statistically greater odds of ≥20% weight reduction vs semaglutide 7.2 mg, while tirzepatide 10 mg was associated with no statistically significant difference.
Graphs that I’ve included from STEP UP are both TRE and efficacy estimand while SURMOUNT-5 is just the TRE.
(Study was funded by Lilly, but Wilding, the lead author ran STEP 1 for sema that gave sema its obesity indication.)

ALT This image is an infographic titled "Islet Autoantibody Ordering Patterns and Diabetes Reclassification." It displays data about 1,077 tested for diabetes classification. A pie chart shows 25% of adults were reclassified with type 1 diabetes (T1D), with details on islet autoantibodies distribution among adults and children. 13% of people tested were reclassified with T1D. Clinical characteristics of reclassified individuals include statistics on diabetes diagnosis during DKA, age, and demographics. Key terms include GAD65, IA-2, and ZnT8.

The media coverage of our @ImperialMed paper today was everything I could possibly hope for having spent many years raising awareness around early-onset type 2 diabetes
I am so very grateful to my co-authors and to everyone who recognised the importance of the work 🙏🏼🙏🏼
We were showcased by #BBCNews, #ITN, #Womenshour on Radio 4, BBC #radio5Live and #TimesRadio to name a few plus many newspapers
Here I am looking earnest on ITN news this lunch time! And of course a selfie with the lovely Nina Hossein - amazing experience!

Sharing our review article: “Dulaglutide in the Era of Tirzepatide and Semaglutide: Reaffirming Its Role in Contemporary Cardiometabolic Care.”
In an era where semaglutide and tirzepatide have raised expectations for HbA1c and weight reduction, our article revisits an important clinical question: does dulaglutide still have a meaningful role?
We highlight that dulaglutide remains a complementary, not obsolete, incretin-based therapy—supported by robust cardiovascular outcome evidence, especially from REWIND, practical tolerability, simple once-weekly use, and easier attainment of therapeutic dosing in routine care. Its relevance is particularly strong for primary cardiovascular prevention, older adults, patients intolerant to more potent incretin therapies, and cost-sensitive or resource-limited settings.
This article may interest clinicians seeking a pragmatic framework for incretin selection beyond potency alone—balancing efficacy, safety, adherence, affordability, and access.

Note: At the time of writing, generic semaglutide was not available in India; however, our article does not specifically analyze generic semaglutide.
