The hepatobiliary system (extrahepatic biliary ducts, cystic duct/artery, gallbladder) shows the highest prevalence of surgically relevant anatomical variants. Normal anatomy occurs in only 57-72% of people due to complex embryology; variants appear in 28%+ and risk major injury in common procedures like cholecystectomy.

“The current focus on tariffs is masking the more serious threats to our sovereignty and our resultant place in the world; I fear that Canada risks becoming a ‘strategic orphan.’”
“We are being intentionally isolated, economically weakened, and psychologically prepared for some form of future coercion or capitulation. Our national and provincial leaders have concluded that this is an all-out assault on our way of life. We need to accept that reality.”

In 1890, the Tariff Act came into place in the United States. It placed tariffs on imports of up to 50%.
While touted as a way to build American industry, there was also the hope it would force an annexation of Canada. It backfired.
Let's learn more.

ALT The image is a black-and-white political cartoon depicting a man in a suit standing behind a counter labeled "Republican Platform." He is holding a bottle labeled "Untaxed Whiskey, 20¢ Gal." in one hand and a piece of cloth labeled "War-Taxed Common Cloth, Tariff 84%" in the other. Above the counter, a sign reads, "If you don’t see what you want, ask for it." The cartoon, signed by W.A. Rogers, appears to satirize the Republican Party's economic policies, highlighting the disparity in taxation between luxury items like whiskey and essential goods like cloth.

Apparently it is once again time to bring back the lesson on tariffs from Ferris Bueller

"I call it fascism because that's what it is"
"It's a cult of power, and a cult of warrior worship, and a total contempt for the old world order"

"Bullies feast on the fears that they cause"
"Look at who Trump admires.. Putin's Russia.. Places moving towards fascism, nationalism, and they don't listen to people like Starmer"
"Starmer will be called a nice guy by Trump until he says something which expresses his support for Ukraine, something which he has to do, and then he'll be slapped down and Trump will say: I thought he was nasty"
"It's bullying, it's fascism, and we have to realign ourselves in recognition that this is no longer the proper world"

The question is not whether Ukraine should be a member of NATO. The question is whether the US should be.

The tariffs imposed by the United States today are a clear violation of our trade agreements and require the most serious trade and economic responses in our history.
