My OpEd for @MSF_uk in @guardian today.
@MSF has a responsibility to act with moral clarity and humanitarian consistency in the face of mass atrocities.
The same should apply to the UK government.
"We can only conclude that the UK government just does not want to admit what everybody else can see: that genocide is being committed in Gaza, and it is being committed with the military, diplomatic and material support of the UK"

MSF teams in Myanmar are heading to the affected areas. It is a difficult region to access & the roads have been damaged. We’ll have more info on how we’ll assist in the coming hours/days.

I just spent 17 days in Damascus, from January 14 to January 30. I had never imagined I would learn this much in such a short period of time.
I know it’s a cliché, but in this (long) thread 1️⃣🧵, I want to reflect on these two weeks that—perhaps selfishly—brought me so much.
I hope that one day, I’ll be able to give back to Syria for all it has given me.

Once ‘tax’ is paid by farmers, #ISWAP typically issues receipts. However, these receipts cannot be taken home. The terrorists strictly prohibit this. Instead, the receipts are left on the farm or kept with the payer. humanglemedia.com/iswaps-tax…

ICYMI, last week we held a press conference to reflect on 12 months of conflict in Gaza.
Dr Natalie Roberts and Dr Javid Abdelmoneim were joined by Dr Mohamed Abu Mughaiseb and Hanadi Katerji, speaking live from Gaza.

The bravery of journalists based in Gaza, trying to report in the most appalling conditions, continues to astound. Many have paid with their lives.

We're nearly at the first full calendar year-end of the Gaza war. The normalisation of both (i) the enormous bloodshed (ii) and journalists still not being allowed in by the Israeli govt to report as to what's happening have been some of the grimmer features of the year.
“#Israel’s authorities haven’t let journalists into Gaza for <1 year to report freely on one of the bloodiest conflicts of this century. That’s unacceptable.” Talking ceasefire chances in #Gaza & hopes for a free #Syria as Assad’s victims seek justice, on @LBC w/ @lewis_goodall.

Israeli fighter jets bombard the surroundings of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza.
I took this in 2012 at the border crossing into Aleppo. They told me it would be all over by the end of the year.
Thinking of my Syrian friends today: those that fled, those that stayed & survived the vicious onslaught, and those that were killed.
I wish Syria a bright future.

The Israeli decisions appear to be “arbitrary and are not made on a criteria nor logic”, said Moeen Mahmood, the Jordan country director for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). theguardian.com/world/2024/d…

Oh my God. The silence after the screams. This is one of the most horrifying scenes I’ve seen come out of Gaza.
Israel “bombed [these people] and killed a number of them, then people came to rescue them, and mothers cried over their injured sons, then Israel…bombed them again.
All of this happened inside a UNRWA school housing displaced people in Gaza City.”
