So excited to share our new paper (open access!) that was worth countless dissections:

1. CRISPR came from basic research on bacteria.
2. Optogenetics started with a discovery in algae.
3. The GFP protein comes from jellyfish.
The biggest breakthroughs all trace to scientists follow their curiosity. This is one huge reason why we must keep funding basic research!

Why do large dogs tend to live shorter lives than their smaller counterparts?
The answer may be written into their epigenome, according to a new study in Science. The findings reveal that larger and male dogs undergo accelerated molecular aging, with pronounced DNA methylation on the X chromosome and at transposable elements.

ALT A flowchart of the Dog Aging Project. It includes graphics of dogs, DNA, and data charts. Part A shows dog graphics with stars indicating enrollment locations. Part B features a chart of dog ages by size. Part C has box plots for types of dogs. Part D displays a graph of methylation changes over years.
Kyknya cuma di +62 doang atheist = males ibadah & gak soleh/taat
Sejak kapan sih “gak percaya Yesus tuhan” = lu males ke gereja & gak taat doang ?!?!?!

A species of lungfish found in South America has claimed the title of the animal with the biggest genome sequenced so far.
The DNA of Lepidosiren paradoxa comprises a staggering 91 billion chemical letters or “bases,” 30 times as many as the human genome, researchers reported in 2024.
However, those 91 billion bases of DNA only contain about the same number of genes that humans have—roughly 20,000—with the rest consisting of noncoding, perhaps even “junk” DNA.
By comparing this genome with those of other lungfishes, the researchers determined that L. paradoxa adds the equivalent of a human genome to its DNA every 10 million years.

Mungkin perlu dibedain kasus yg “gak mau milih coba xyz krn emg gk pernah nyoba (pdhl ternyata doyan)” sama “emg gk suka krn pernah nyoba ternyata gk suka”

Replying to @Snyasatu
Yeah it might mimick a parasite, but calling a fetus parasitic sih, is quite misleading sih ya for me. And yeah Trophoblasts do invade and remodel maternal tissue, yes, but that's a specialized and regulated part of placenta formation, not simply an organism invading its host
Status “keturunan langsung (offspring)” & kriteria “musti spesies yg beda”, bahkan “regulasi kooperatif yg kompleks dr host” gak serta-merta bs dipakai buat memfalsifikasi predikat parasit
