It's not like I've been super active on Twitter, but my plan is to be not-at-all-active after today.
Much like selling my Tesla when His Muskness was abusing his employees, I can't participate in this site in this state.
I'm thankful to my followers; be well, everyone.
Listening to my Dad's original copy of Getz/Gilberto and traveling back to the 60s, where they were no doubt listening and enjoying a cocktail while we kids were asleep.
Looking for a very fast external portable SSD? The SanDisk TB3 unit is outrageously fast and seems to work well in my testing. $450 for 2TB.

(Small kick to me if you use that link, of course, but that’s not why I’m recommending it.)
@gruber Not to be overly picky, but tv definitely does have ads. The tv+ “tab”—which is the turn-on default—is 100% ads for that service (which you don’t have to have). The page itself has lots of ads for services-to-subscribe to. And searching for things gives you ads, too.
In fact, it looks like Apple’s making it ad-y-er, moving the non-ad “Up Next” below a new ad “Featured” section: appleinsider.com/articles/22…

I mean, sure, maybe there have been better McSweeney’s pieces. Maybe.

Blade Runner 2049 gets better every time I watch it...and it was great to start with.
Bizarre echo of the original, where it didn't do well on release. Hopefully it'll find its audience eventually.
(Do watch it on a real UHD/HDR disc: it's *far* better than the "4K" stream.)
Deep Red (Profondo Rosso) is such a great movie - I think Argento's best - and this review by Vincent Canby is so far off the mark to be kind of hilarious.

That thing where your network is doing all sorts of peculiar, inexplicable things, and it turns out to be an ethernet cable - one of so many - that has gone bad.

Communicating with the Apollo astronauts across hundreds of thousands of miles wasn't easy. How did their 1960s FM radio work on their trips to the Moon? Let's look inside and see how this transistorized circuitry worked.
ALT The premodulation processor is a block of gray metal modules with four round military-style connectors on the side.
ALT The circuit board has a bunch of transistors, resistors, capacitors, and other components mounted haphazardly on a board.
Folks - the new Monterey Beta 5 has broken Apple Event handling. SuperDuper schedules will not work properly until this bug is fixed by Apple (and it effects many apps, not just us).
