Bad sound is my one complaint with every non-Apple laptop I have owned. A MacBook sounds good because Apple measured its speakers and tuned the DSP; on Linux you get the raw drivers. My @slimbook Executive 14 is a lovely machine, but its speakers are no exception to the rule. This is what one press in @OmarchyLinux does to them. The Speaker Calibrator plugin makes it sound better in one minute. It plays sweeps, listens through a microphone (the built-in ones work, a cheap USB measuring mic is better), fits a protective parametric EQ and installs it as a PipeWire filter chain. Optional deep bass from bankstown, the Asahi Linux bass enhancer. Everything runs from the bar panel. What you hear is the room, recorded through the measuring mic where I sit. The off/on switch is level matched, so nothing gets louder, only the tone changes. @dhh and @SpencerGBull, you tuned the XPS 14 by hand and by ear.
