Drug overdose deaths in San Francisco (and nationally) while still very high, show signs of decline, possibly bc fewer young people are starting: “Ciccarone attributed the drop in overdose deaths partly to a complex phenomenon: as people who use fentanyl get older, enter treatment, transition to other drugs or die, younger Americans are not “replacing” them at the same rates. Recent evidence suggests youth opioid misuse plateaued after the pandemic, he added”
