The Houthis’ political and military messaging has hardened over the past few years. Their leader’s speeches and publications have been publicly challenging Saudi custodianship over Mecca and targeting Mohammed bin Salman’s standing at home. They are also dredging up old claims on Asir, Jizan and Najran. Saudi Arabia is also subject to attacks over what the Houthis perceive as a clandestine Israeli-Saudi relationship of normalization (which obviously does not exist). That rhetoric carries weight because the Houthis see their territorial and ideological ambitions outside Yemen as the path to a Free Palestine, and Saudi Arabia is the entity standing in their way. My latest deep dive looks at what the Houthi and Iran primary sources reveal: ideologymachine.com/p/for-th…

China supplying military technology and equipment to both sides in a war is nothing new. Today, it is helping the Houthis (see report below) and the Saudis (missiles and UAV). In the 1980s, it sold weapons to both #Iran and Iraq during their 8-year war. ndtv.com/world-news/houthis-…

“According to testimonies from the scene and documentation received by Galei Tzahal, it appears that one of the diplomatic vehicles was pelted with stones and its window was smashed. In addition, one of the consuls was seen in footage lying on the ground, apparently after being attacked.” Another day of lawlessness

Hamas terrorists have released Palestinian activist Eyad Jundya Abu Hammam after torturing him so severely that they broke his jaw and leg. This is what Hamas does to Palestinians in Gaza who dare to speak out against them. Eyad was kidnapped by Hamas militias and subjected to horrific torture for over a week. He now needs immediate medical treatment. Over the past three years, Hamas has tortured and murdered Palestinians and shot others in the legs for opposing them. Yet many of the loudest voices in the so-called pro-Palestine movement have remained silent about these horrific attacks on activists in Gaza.

The war in Yemen is escalating, and wave of Houthi attacks on Saudi oil facilities and increasingly airports will soon make this war even bigger, and if US-Iran war resumes, Yemen-Saudi conflict will become a hot front in that war. The Middle East is on the edge of a much larger region-wide war
Breaking News: At least 12 people were killed and 50 more were injured in a Houthi attack on an airport in the Saudi capital, officials said. The strike was the deadliest attack in a Gulf Arab country since the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran began in February. nyti.ms/4hGWLvt

A simple review of events over the past few weeks leads me to conclude that the efforts to cancel the Palestinian elections were led by two people: Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh and Jamil Mezher, Deputy Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. These efforts disregarded the hopes of millions of Palestinians who had waited two decades and welcomed this democratic opportunity. It would have allowed them to participate in the political system by exercising their most basic right: electing their representatives to the Legislative Council and making their voices heard after years of being silenced. All these Palestinians have the right to hold accountable those who closed this door. Why were they once again denied the right to choose? And how can those who pushed for cancellation guarantee that the conditions they cited as justification will change by the new election date? I find it difficult to see what happened as anything other than putting the interests of those who benefit from the status quo ahead of the public interest. Those who made this decision, or pushed for it, bear political responsibility before a people who were waiting for a chance to bring about peaceful change. The right to vote is not a favor granted by anyone. It must not remain hostage to the calculations of those who fear the people’s choice.

Extensive interview by @talschneider with Gadi Eisenkott about domestic and foreign policy. He vows to crack down on settler terrorism & evict illegal outpost in Areas A & B. He signals willingness to reach a security deal w/ Syria & withdraw from the occupied buffer zone in exchange for "removing the Turks & Russians". The demand for Russian departure is a reversal of the Israeli position that urged the US admin to let the Russian forces stay in Syria to reduce Turkish influence in post-Assad (an immoral and stupid policy. Russia failed to curb Iranian influence under Bashar and Turkish influence now). timesofisrael.com/bereaved-b…
