The people behind Rustls github.com/rustls/rustls, an up-and-coming TLS library written in—you guessed it—Rust, published their follow-up performance benchmark, showing excellent results under high concurrency. memorysafety.org/blog/rustls…

rustls outperforms OpenSSL and BoringSSL.
Security and performance: pick two!
Both handshake latency and throughput were better in the latest version of rustls compared to latest OpenSSL/BoringSSL. See blog post for more details, below.

watching the WP situation, i feel incredibly torn. on one hand, it'd be disingenuous to call the matt's behavior anything but unhinged.
on the other, every time we see a maintainer break down at the open source/money border, it's way too easy to just take the ad hominem path.
