Day one at PyCon Greece 🇬🇷
Technopolis has been busy since this morning, and we’ve spent most of it at the booth talking to people about what they’re running and where their deployments start to hurt.
The draw happens tomorrow at the end of the day. A Logitech G515 mechanical keyboard and a year of Divio hosting credits are up for grabs, and plenty of people have already entered, so if you haven’t scanned the QR code at our booth yet, you’ve got all of day two.
See you there tomorrow 👋
Athens, we're coming. 🇬🇷
We're at PyCon Greece on 12 and 13 October at Technopolis, and we're bringing a Logitech G PRO mechanical keyboard to give away, with a year of Divio hosting credits on top.
Swing by the booth, scan the QR code and you're in the draw, which we run live on day two, so stick around for that one.
Come say hi 👋
Python 3.10 reaches end of life this month, so after October the Python core team stops shipping security patches for it.
If your agency still has client projects running on 3.10, this is a good week to go and find them.
The quickest check is the first line of each project's Dockerfile, where the base image tells you which Python version that site actually runs on.
Pinning that version is the right call, since an unpinned image can pull in breaking changes on the next build, but a pinned version also needs someone to check now and then that it still gets security updates.
Our docs walk through how to pin and update a base image on Divio, link in the first comment 👇

On Divio, a failed deployment leaves the live site exactly as it was 🛟
Every deploy runs a set of self-tests and health checks, and all of them have to pass before the new version goes into production.
If one fails, the deployment is marked as failed and the site keeps serving the previous version. When everything passes, the new containers take over while the old ones are still running, which means the switch itself happens with no downtime 🚀
For agencies pushing updates across a lot of client sites, that makes a Friday afternoon deploy a lot less nerve-wracking.
How does your team handle a deploy that goes wrong?

Most agencies don't find out their backups are broken until the exact moment they need one.
It's usually something small: a plugin update goes wrong, or a client accidentally deletes a page nobody's touched in months. That's when someone finally reaches for the backup, and that's the worst possible moment to find out it doesn't actually restore.
A restore drill catches this early. Pick a random Tuesday when nothing's on fire, spin up a fresh environment, and pull last night's backup into it. Watch what happens, and fix what breaks before it actually matters.
It takes about twenty minutes, and doing it once a quarter means you already know exactly what to expect the day something really does go wrong.
When did you last run one?
That's a wrap on AWS Summit Zurich 🇨🇭
Lucy Linder, Valentinos Evripidou, Joel Burch, Colmar "Mucho" von der Goltz, MBA and Ralf Brändli spent the day at Messe Zürich, mostly in conversations on the expo floor.
One theme was impossible to miss: AI, and agents in particular. It ran from the keynote right through the day. And the direction is clear enough, the point is getting AI tools to do the work for you.
Thanks to Amazon Web Services (AWS), and to everyone who stopped for a chat 👋

Where does your client's data actually live?
That question used to come up mostly in public-sector and healthcare pitches. Now it shows up in ordinary kickoff calls, often passed along by a client with no compliance specialist on staff. European spending on sovereign cloud infrastructure is projected to nearly double, from $6.9 billion in 2025 to $12.6 billion in 2026, and mid-sized agencies are starting to feel that shift.
Divio started as an agency in Zurich, and the platform runs on European infrastructure, with the company based in Switzerland and Sweden today. Applications can run in EU regions like Frankfurt or in Switzerland itself, and we're ISO 27001 certified and fully GDPR compliant.
When a client asks where their project runs, you can point straight to the certification page instead of promising to look into it and get back to them.

Your hosting bill is never the real cost of DIY DevOps.
It shows up when a developer spends the afternoon patching a server instead of shipping client work, and again a few weeks later when a new hire needs three extra weeks to get productive because nobody ever wrote down how your infrastructure actually works.
We broke down 5 hidden costs agencies pay when they manage their own DevOps, and what it actually takes to get that time back.

Great infrastructure should feel like an extension of your team.
That's what we aim for every day.

Growing an agency shouldn't mean spending more time managing infrastructure.
As projects multiply, so do deployments, environments, maintenance, and everything else that comes with hosting. Before long, developers are solving infrastructure problems instead of building for clients.
We've been there ourselves. That's why we built Divio: to take care of the infrastructure so agencies can focus on delivering great work.
We wrote about this on our blog and why the right hosting setup can make a real difference as agencies grow.

We often talk about infrastructure, scalability, and uptime. But the best feedback is hearing that customers see us as a partner they can rely on.
We've been working with Datanautix since 2017, helping them scale their platform while staying focused on their own customers and growth.

Over the past months, we’ve been focused on one thing: building a platform that truly supports digital agencies.
The early momentum is real. More agencies are joining Divio, and more importantly, they’re running more real client projects on the platform.

⚙️ New in Divio Cloud: ReBAC is live
More precise permissions, scoped by org, app, or environment.
Better control, safer collaboration, less access overhead for fast-moving teams.

As digital agencies grow, hosting often becomes a bottleneck instead of a support system.
Scaling feels harder than it should, costs are unpredictable, and teams lose focus on delivery.
That’s exactly why we built Divio.
What’s your biggest hosting frustration right now?
“Our design team can deploy to production on their own. No backend. No DevOps. Still mind blowing.”
A standout moment from our latest case study with Pixel Actions.
