To all of you who are caregiving, however Thanksgiving looks for you, it is okay if it doesn’t look like the ads or the picture-perfect scenes you see online. When you help care for someone at home, holidays can look different, and that is completely normal.

It truly means so much to see how you support Neo and give him the space to share his story. Kids who are caregivers need voices like his, and families like yours make that possible. @pinotski What you are doing matters, and the difference you are making is real. Thank you. ❤️

“Today’s the day! Caregiving is now streaming on pbs.org and the PBS app. Interweaving caregivers' lived experiences with the history of US caregiving policy and practice, the film feels more timely and important now than ever. It was an honor to work on this project alongside so many remarkable colleagues at Ark Media, WETA, and Lea Pictures, and alongside so many incredible people who appeared in front of the camera, who have dedicated their lives to caregiving and to supporting caregivers.” — Ruth Fertig, Documentary Producer Congratulations and thanks to everyone who helped bring Caregiving to life. This film is such an important reminder of how essential caregivers are in our country and how often their work goes unseen. We’re especially grateful that it highlights the experiences of more than 5.4 million Caregiving Youth, young people under 18 who care for a family member with a chronic illness, disability, mental health condition, or age-related issue. (In the UK, they’re known as Young Carers.) We’re so glad to have been part of this powerful project. 📷: Ruth Fertig and Connie Siskowski, RN, PhD, Founder and President of the American Association of Caregiving Youth (AACY). Don't forget to share your Caregiving Youth story on the Well Beings story wall and use the hashtags: #WellBeings #ShareYourCaregivingStory #CaregivingYouth #KidsAreCaregiversToo

So thankful to have a new Caregiving Youth sharing their story. Grateful to @pinot, @ditut, and of course, Neo 👾. Kids are caregivers too - over 5.4 million in the U.S. - and their voices matter.
When someone young like Neo shares his story, especially in a creative way and with a platform that already reaches a lot of people, it helps shine a light on the 5.4 million kids and teens in the U.S. who quietly take care of family members every day. These young caregivers deserve to be seen, supported, and included when we talk about the future of caregiving. Thank you, Neo and your family, for sharing your voice and your caregiving story. It takes real courage to talk about something so personal, and your story is helping others feel seen and less alone. To Neo’s mom and dad, thank you for trusting us and for standing by Neo as he speaks up with honesty and heart. Your whole family is helping people understand what life is like for so many Caregiving Youth across the country. "You don’t often see kids in this role. But our children are walking their own caregiving journey, showing up every day for their dad, @pinot, a stroke survivor." @ditut @neosunivrse We hope other young people will feel inspired to share their stories too. If you’re a young caregiver now or were one in the past, your voice matters, and your story should be heard. #CaregivingYouth #KidsAreCaregiversToo #ShareYourCaregivingStory #WellBeings #CaregivingPBS #YoungCarers

It feels like you’re on our team now, and that’s a powerful step toward change for the kids who are caregiving. This is the kind of outreach that truly changes the world. So grateful to be walking this path together, and especially grateful to Neo. Sending all my love and deepest thanks to you and your family. @ditut

@pinot you are such an inspiration of creativity, determination, perseverance and consistency! My late dad also suffers a massive stroke after an A-fib procedure. And I do relate to the battle and struggles (including all the loved ones around) to regain the spirit, confidence and most importantly the effort to re-map the brain allocation and re-train the motoric functions. The ups and downs are trully gruesome, in and out training rehab facility, episodes of ER for infections etc (that sadly at the end wore my dad down). Following your recovery journey, it's been remarkable. Also @ditut and the children's exceptional supports are awesome. I know exactly how much energy and love being poured out, they're tremendous! To stay positive for one day is always a continuous fight. I hope your testimony of life brings hope and inspires many. Godspeed 👌🏻.
