The question is: how do we adapt to modern life, how to do we solve the problems that arise from modernization? I believe we’ve implemented initiatives which can help us ensure a future of progress and peace for our country. Examples of this include: the announced constitutional reforms. I think this is very important. We also intend to implement reform in other areas including: economic, social, and political reforms. All of this will ensure a great future of Ethiopia, a future which I hope will be as bright as our past. I also think peace in the Middle East will create conditions that will be quite favorable to the development in Ethiopia and our neighbors. I know this is a very difficult problem, I’ve know this problem since I was my country’s ambassador to the UN in 1967. Now I am beginning to find solutions and ways to allow all people to coexist and work together, rather than fighting each other.”
