It's not everyday you get a shoutout from MIT's CSAIL. 😀 🙏
#otd in 1985 Cray released what was then the world’s fastest supercomputer, the Cray-2. Today's iPhones have more memory, speed and storage - and cost 10,000x less. bit.ly/2KQKzID (stats v/@diegodoval) #todayintech #TodayInHistory

Very disappointed this otherwise excellent documentary does not include a discussion of the role of the Federal Reserve, trade imbalances, or international exchange rates. It does, however, have a Paul Krugman cameo. See if you can spot it.

This paper is amazing: bit.ly/36HGDU2 (also check: bit.ly/2Q2NOjT). Electric activity of neurons in deep sleep drives brain fluid oscillations: turn them all on or off, which uses more or less blood, which in turn drives cerebrospinal fluid in & out. A reboot.

1/2) Someone (mistakenly I assume) gave my phone number as part of several car insurance applications a week ago. Since then, I’ve received an average of 20 calls and 2-3 voicemails PER DAY.

2/2) My name isn’t attached to the application and they can’t look up by phone number, so I can’t get the companies to stop calling. I don’t know what to do -- I feel like I’m in a mini story inside the movie ‘Brazil’.

For the superstitious, here's some good news: many countries (e.g., Spain, Argentina, Greece, Mexico and others) and cultures consider *Tuesday* the 13th a day of bad luck, rather than Friday. Italy dislikes Friday 17th instead. So it's really your choice. Happy Friday! 😀

Watching the #DeadwoodMovie I find myself frequently grinning like an idiot for no specific reason, just out of pure joy. “Having so lived in recollection, it is my considerable happiness to see it again.” David Milch still got it.

There is something so magical about a lab or office at night, when it's quiet and empty and dark outside. It seems like anything is possible.

Hands down, best series finale of a major series (with all that entails) since “The Sopranos.” Although Breaking Bad came pretty close #GameOfThrones

And I say this after laughing at the fact that putting THAT guy (all seeing, all knowing, possibly immortal-for-all-practical-purposes) in charge pretty much guarantees that the system of government they set up now is going to crumble spectacularly on the next iteration.

For the inevitable thought: “BOO so-and-so should’ve never survived [impossible situation X] it’s ridiculous they’re here now doing Z.” Keep in mind: there are reasons why stories are worth telling. The protagonist(s) being alive is a pretty fundamental one. #GameOfThronesFinale

... which doesn’t justify Deus-ex-machinas— only means that if certain people were not there at the point where they could make a difference they’d never have become more than bit players. Yeah, it’s a recursive argument, but we’re talking about an artificial construct (fiction).
