I guess Devah Pager was right… a white guy with a criminal record has no issues getting hired.

Elon is a capitalist, and has zero integrity
Bernie is basically a communist, but he does seem to have integrity

October 7th was a tragedy, a war crime, a horrific day for Israel & Israelis. Everything that's happened since has been a tragedy, a series of war crimes, & horrific weeks & months, for Gaza, the West Bank, & now for Lebanon. Civilians should be off-limits. Always. Everywhere.

Equity is not a preference, but a fundamental requirement for a just society. We must stand firm against efforts to undermine DEI and work tirelessly to ensure that every individual, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to succeed.

US Presidents have set up torture sites, staged coups, ordered human experiments, invaded entire countries, ethnically cleansed indigenous peoples, enabled genocides. That the first Presidential conviction ever is over hush money to cover a sex scandal is… very telling I guess

is it????
It's hard to understand why an economics professor showing concern for a student would be thrown to the ground and arrested. This is not an obvious way to defuse a crisis.

It’s worth reminding those critical of the student protests raging across the US: Gaza no longer has universities. Every single university in Gaza has been bombed into oblivion. Hundreds of academics, scholars, professors, & students have been killed since Oct. 7. #scholasticide

As you see everything unfolding at @Columbia and other U.S. campuses, I want you to remember one thing: This is not just about Israel. This is about democracy and Western values. Yesterday, a group of American students who are U.S. vets stood up against the pro-Islamic Jihad illegal encampment on campus. I was told by one of them that he "can't believe that he was deployed to fight terrorists in Afghanistan yet the administration is letting them right on to Columbia's campus" Thank you, @SNahins and the rest of the guys, for having our back!

I'll tell you one thing: Sociology, like all fields, has its problems, but there is a damn fine, critical mass of good folks fighting the good fight in that field

YES !!!! Amazing work getting done by the Graduate Student Union at Northwestern - this stuff makes me so proud. (so much more inspiring than college sports IMO)
Replying to @jfredrickskmtv
Per NUGW, a tentative agreement has been reached between the union and Northwestern: - Base stipend rises from $37K to $45K by September - Signing bonus - Dental and vision premiums covered - More support for international workers

it is such a shame that the professional association I belong to (& my former employer and) went full "all lives matter" with that statement

Non-English names like mine, which is French, are often deemed errors by U.S. universities. Many university websites won’t let me upload letters of rec for my students unless I anglicize my name & remove the accent. These institutions publicly endorse cultural diversity.
