11-year-old Arina Koval was also killed by Russians yesterday in Nova Vodolaha, Kharkiv region.
Her brother Artem and her mom Lilia are in the hospital.
Baby Anhelina and her mom Inna were killed by Russia yesterday.
Anhelina was just over a year old. Her mom, Inna Mariukhna, was a primary school teacher. They were in the park in Nova Vodolaha, Kharkiv region, when a Russian drone attacked.
Little Anhelina was killed in her stroller. Her mom died of her injuries in hospital.
Another girl killed in the strike was just 11 years old.
Six people lost their lives from that Russian strike. All of them had simply been spending time in the park. At least 15 more were injured, including seven kids.
Deepest condolences...

Nobel laureate @avalaina has documented Russian war crimes in Ukraine since its full-scale invasion. Her reaction to Trump saying Russia has been “fine”’ there?: “We document intentional murders of civilians every day…I'm sorry to say, but this presidential administration completely lost their ability to distinguish between good and evil.”

There's no mystery why oil prices are high. Shipping costs went through the roof after the attack on the East-West pipeline. That's all. The US can get this under control by shutting down Iran's gunboats. Forget the Dec '27 futures stuff. It's nonsense...

Meloni's strong condemnation of the US diesel deal with Russia would carry more weight if Italian exporters weren't falling over themselves transshipping goods to Russia. Europe is all about big speeches and virtue signaling. It's all just empty words...

German Chancellor Merz yesterday said Russia wants to undermine democracy in Europe. So why are German exporters falling over themselves transshipping G-Wagons to Russia? Stop with big speeches and virtue signaling. Bitte endlich Nägel mit Köpfen machen...

Russia invaded Ukraine. They are the aggressor. They can end the war by pulling their troops out of Ukraine.

Trump: "Russia, frankly, has been fine on Ukraine. They haven't been doing much."
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Trump's remarks were made the same day Russia conducted a drone strike killing six civilians including children in a Kharkiv region park, plus missile and energy infrastructure attacks leaving hundreds of thousands without power.

One definition of a bear market is a drawdown that logs an 18-month low. Through this lens, the advance since September 2022 is no longer youthful, as just 3 of 18 cases since 1950 ran further. Today’s up-leg can persist, but risk management is increasingly important.

A Brief History of Rigged Elections.
For 250 years American elections were fine. People who won, won, people who lost, conceded. No whining or crying.
In 2016 Trump won. Hillary Clinton didn't whine. She conceded like a true American.
But then in 2020 something happened. For the first time in our history, a presidential nominee who lost, Donald Trump, refused to concede.
He cried, caused an insurrection, and had to be dragged out of the White House by his cankles.
Cut to 2024. Trump wins. Again, no whining by Kamala Harris. She concedes like a true American.
Now we're 16 days from midterms. And Donald is whining already. Blaming illegals, ID laws, mail-in-ballots, voting machines, dead people, Antifa, and socialists.
He's right. We do have a rigging problem. It's called Donald Trump.
Our system worked great for every election at every level for 250 years...

This is what billionaire ownership of the media means:
Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta shut down the No Kings account for hours during the height of their protests.
Meta suppressed accounts supporting Brazil President Lula da Silva in the recent election.
Larry Ellison’s TikTok blocked advertising for a documentary criticizing Elon Musk.
Fight back. Defeat oligarchy. Preserve democracy.

You can be globally compassionate as a person and still feel that your society should have careful borders and that local cultures matter, and should be preserved if they're clearly doing well.
These actually aren't in contradiction.

Replying to @Devon_Eriksen_
"Only high-testosterone, high-IQ heterosexual males speak and act as a result of their mental model of the system as a whole. Everyone else just says and does whatever they think will keep them safe, and maybe get them a pat on the head."
These are the types of absolutist statements commonly written by people reliant on audience capture for a given trend.
It's not the type of thing that someone sophiscated enough to write Theft of Fire would likely write. If anything, it comes off as emotional and defensive.
A classic but tragic trend is to start with reasonable/broad statements and then shift toward more absolutist/narrow statements over time, which happens either because 1) someone is trying to corral people (a demagogue) or 2) because someone needs the money (which shouldn't inform their art, but does, which is an age-old issue with artists).
I'm looking forward to your next book and would encourage resistance against such banal and well-telegraphed failure modes that this type of direction tends to lead toward.

CONFIRMED: "Tommy"—the heckler who tried to gotcha El-Sayed at his Michigan town hall—is not some random guy. He is Thomas Teepell, Operations Director for Republican Senator Josh Hawley until February of this year.
This explains why his "gotcha" targeted the Muslim candidate.
The Handbasket first identified him via his X and Facebook profiles (Detroit) and LegiStorm, which confirms he ran Hawley’s Senate operations until February. Crooks and Liars, Newsy Today, and Lawyers Guns & Money have since confirmed it.
Tommy’s father is Timmy Teepell, a Republican strategist who worked for Bobby Jindal (2004–2011), ran his 2015 presidential campaign, and helped Josh Hawley win as Missouri Attorney General in 2016 and U.S. Senator in 2018.
Christian nationalist ties run deep. Timmy is described as the “most powerful ally” of Sean Feucht, who preaches Christian supremacy. Video shows Feucht praying over father and son. Tommy interviewed on-stage with Feucht at his D.C. headquarters in April 2024.
On October 2, the University of Michigan student paper revealed that America Next—a PAC founded by Bobby Jindal—offered College Republicans $200 to attend El-Sayed’s Flint town hall, boo him, and ask inflammatory questions for viral moments. Nothing happened in Flint; then Tommy appeared in Caro.
El-Sayed disavowed the Muslim Brotherhood on the spot, spent four minutes dismantling the question, and Tommy walked out.
The “gotcha” was on him.
