imagine you good looking so much that you have shave your head to get into character
Director Cristian Mungiu on Sebastian Stan being so handsome that it became a problem when casting him for ‘FJORD’: “I wanted to take this to the edge. To make people see a different character; not only in the way he embodied this very religious person, but also in the way he looked. I'm sorry to say this, but he's a very good-looking guy [laughs]. I always have this problem with him. And this distracts you from seeing that he can be so possessed by the part. And we came together at the end with this idea that the more distant he looks from his regular self, the more the people are going to see the character.  Yes, it was important for me that the name of Sebastian was there, because without him, we couldn't have financed this film, to be honest. But at the same time, it's important not to exploit that he's so good-looking. I was looking for his talents, and he gave us the opportunity to see what he can do.” (via @CBC)

Replying to @decider
Sebastian’s fans are more than capable of understanding his work as an actor. It’s the author of this article who seems to struggle with that.

Sebastian Stan talks about how he prepares for Harvey Dent in ‘The Batman Part II’ for the July issue of Premiere Magazine: “No matter the subject or the character, whether it’s a film by Cristian Mungiu or Matt Reeves, you always have to get to the heart of the truth. That means understanding what makes a person who they are. What shapes the way they think? What is the context, the environment in which they grew up? This also includes their family background, their socioeconomic status, as well as the city, the place and the period in which they live. You have to treat all of that with equal importance. And whether it’s a real person or a fictional character, you always have to do your research. So that’s what I do. And then, at Marvel as well as at DC, all these characters are pretty complex. I actually think — and sometimes people don’t realize this way — that there’s something mythological about comics. In every case, there’s always a reason, whether the character is a hero or a villain, that explains why they ended up where they are. And in my opinion, finding that reason is what has the greatest impact on the performance.”
