The VP in NYT's article who told the members' parents that contract terms were non-negotiable in Jan 2022 was not MHJ's longterm colleague, Shin Dong Hoon, but a close BSH associate. Shin did not join ADOR's board and became VP until Sep 2023.

Minji’s mom revealed that and more about Minji’s treatment as a Source Music trainee
Rehearsing until 2 a.m. was not uncommon for NewJeans members who were as young as 12 years old during their training years. (via: New York Times)

HYBE held 80% of ador while mhj held 18% what kind of "so much control" is this 😭

artikel soal kontrak newjeans yg dirilis ama NYT hari ini ngungkapin kalau label mereka (ador) punya hak atas suara AI mereka tanpa batas waktu. lebih parahnya lagi kalo member keluar dari kontrak itu, label bisa nurunin pembayaran royalti mereka. ini sih masuknya udah eksploitasi. gila lu hybe ador. nytimes.com/interactive/2026…

This is INSANE. Prison contracts — it’s giving artistic slavery
The record contract for embattled K-pop girl group NewJeans, shared today by the NYT, reveals their record label has the rights to their AI-generated voices indefinitely. Worse yet, if members exit the deal, the label can reduce their royalty payments. This is exploitation.

HYBE would've already publicly accused MHJ of drafting a exploitative contract contrary to the gov't's standardized one bc they already accused her of tampering, embezzlement, management seizure, etc, but during the trial, they only criticized her for paying the girls too much 🤡

reading through the comments under the NYT article and this one from a former record producer/artist manager/music attorney is exactly right: “without minimal government protections, they are tantamount to INDENTURED SERVITUDE.” hybe is beyond evil. this is genuinely inhumane.

Yall are literally dumb or acting dumb? Its for all hybe labels not just ador
Replying to @nytimes
the contracts for the NewJeans members were crafted by their former CEO, Min Hee-jin, whom they once supported. Ironically, Min’s biggest concern when contracting trainees was the possibility of them turning on her. So she asked a shaman to sort out.
