39 years ago I attended my first ever live football match as a 4 year old and what a game to be at. The famous Merthyr Tydfil 2-1 @Atalanta_BC a game still spoken about all these years later, I'm told that I cried my eyes out because the noise was so loud @MerthyrTownFC @dialmpod

Atmosphere was brilliant last night, the CTM was bouncing second half, thank you Martyrs 🤍🖤 The support definitely helped us turn the momentum after going behind in the 2nd half. Lots of positives, including coming from behind but lots to continue to develop, together.
It’s a point each at Penydarren Park. Thank you for your support tonight Martyrs ♥️ #OurTownOurClub | #WeAreMerthyr

🇮🇹 In 1987, we beat Italian giants Atalanta 2–1 at Penydarren Park in the European Cup Winners’ Cup. Nearly 40 years later, it returns! A piece of Martyrs history, made to be worn again 👉🏻 shorturl.at/D47QY #OurTownOurClub | #WeAreMerthyr

Tonight’s @MerthyrTownFC fan forum was “interesting”🫠 Some good updates from the gaffer on the playing squad & the board on additional progress with the club shop & stock, new bar, theatre end entrance etc 👌 Good to hear 👏 But then the delight that is Security. I will wait and see what happens come the beginning of the season & I appreciate things need to change to a certain degree with Martyn’s law - but I cannot wrap my head around some of the answers to my questions tonight. •Hereford game cost us £50k & any incidents outside of the ground are nothing to do with the club. I said that is wrong as we are all Merthyr fans regardless if in or outside of the ground & away fans should have been held back, especially after 2017 to be told “that has never happened before”. Ok son. I’ve been held back at multiple games when following Cardiff years ago. •Fylde game “incident” (a thrown can) - segregation was apparently put up the day before but “someone” from the club took it down on the morning of the game 🙄. I said they should have segregated Fylde fans whilst the game was on just because so much was riding on the game for both sides. Clubs fault that one, but now plays into the narrative of needing security everywhere. •We now have SAG (safety advisory group) a SLO (supporters liaison officer) & SW Police who with the board advise on “football intelligence”. Cardiff ‘trouble makers’ are now heavily involved with the club 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 it’s a couple of 14 year olds. Nonsense. And who knew we had a SLO 🤷‍♂️ •There will now be 2 spotters at our games from now on. Again why!? Taking the model from Cardiff/Swansea and putting it into Merthyr is overkill x1000000 •Merthyr is a “soft target” for terroists apparently just like the incidents in Glasgow & Warrington. Course it is. •No advice has been sought from a key longtime ex board member who leads FAW security for World Cup/euros & champions league games 😂😂😂 All in all an underwhelming/frustrating/shambles of an update from the security lead on the biggest issue for supporters but let’s see what happens come next week. I walked out with just as many concerns on security as I did when I went in 🤯 the board need to get a grip on this quick time before it blows up again- a shame only 3 of us in attendance spoke on the issue. They have given the fans the opportunity to raise their issues so fingers crossed it can get back to the welcoming ground it always has been 🤞
