Credit where it's due. IRFU warning people their ticket prices are scandalous and exercise extreme caution when purchasing. 😂
We are urging supporters to exercise extreme caution when purchasing tickets for upcoming international fixtures, following a significant increase in reports of fraudulent digital ticket sales. More details ➡️ bit.ly/4yZF7IO

Hundreds of tickets still available for Ireland v Argentina this Friday, with the cheapest at €130. That should be setting alarm bells ringing across Irish rugby. The game is being slowly strangled by greed and corporate thinking. The very communities that built Irish rugby are being priced out of supporting their own team. Vodafone's "Team of Us" slogan is becoming painfully ironic. Where exactly is the "Us" on match day? Leinster couldn't sell out the opening weekend at the new arena because of outrageous pricing. Munster have empty seats. Ulster are struggling to fill their ground. These aren't isolated incidents. They're warning signs. As a ten-year ticket holder, I've watched the atmosphere deteriorate year after year. There's virtually no entertainment outside the 80 minutes, barely a proper fan shop and absolutely no sense of occasion. Irish rugby could learn an enormous amount from American college sports about creating a genuine match-day experience. Rugby is in danger of becoming a victim of its own success. You might squeeze more money out of supporters today, but pricing out families, young fans and local communities is a massive long-term mistake. A full stadium, a brilliant atmosphere and the next generation of supporters should be worth more than squeezing every last euro out of the people who made the game what it is. Irish rugby needs to remember who it belongs to.

Crazy idea, @OCallaghanJim @MichealMartinTD @SimonHarrisTD , rather than blow a few billion on IPAS centres, why not turn the site and land of the recently purchased city west and build a mega prison and as many people mocked @Nick_Delehanty for, actually make crim illegal again in Ireland. As it stands the dog on the streets know that there is zero consequences for low to mid tier crimes in this country.
Irish jails were so overcrowded that a proposal to cut 40 days from the sentence of every prisoner in the State was put forward by authorities struggling to find more space. jrnl.ie/7209691

The video produced by the DRCC involving grandparents does not represent the views of the Government. It was both inappropriate and demeaning to grandparents and has been removed by DRCC following my officials engagement with them.

This is utter madness. Ireland is not a serious country.
The latest ad from the Irish Government to the Irish people, who are the font of all problems in the country and desperately need to be stopped from their bad behaviour. This time, it's hugging your grandkids.

Who actually funds Seán’s €1,386 “gain”? Because it isn’t the Government. His employer is being required to increase his wages by €1,602. Meanwhile, according to your own graphic @MichealMartinTD , Seán’s tax bill actually goes UP by €216. And who funds the employer? The customer. Businesses don’t have a magic pot of money. Many operate on tight margins. Increase their wage bill and eventually some combination of prices, reduced hours, lower margins or fewer jobs has to absorb it. Take supermarkets. Push up the cost of employing thousands of people and some of that cost will inevitably feed through the business. Then Seán walks into the shop with his extra take-home pay and faces higher prices. If the objective is genuinely to make people better off, why not let them keep more of the money they already earn? Cut USC. Raise the income-tax bands further. Increase tax credits. Reduce the tax burden on work. Stop overpaying for Hospitals and Metros and essentially all Works carried out by the government. Tighten your own expenditure vs squeezing every single one of us, a bloody great example of this is the Children's Hospital, Bike Sheds and the budget which will ultimately be doubled for the new Metro project. Instead we get a graphic celebrating a €1,386 increase where the employer provides the pay rise and the State collects MORE tax from Seán. That’s some spin.
