We wrote a letter about Caitlin Clark. The comments became something bigger. 💛🖤
A mom shared how watching Caitlin inspired her bullied son to pick up a basketball—and find confidence.
A breast cancer survivor described three generations traveling together to see her play, giving her something joyful to look forward to during treatment.
An 87-year-old woman and her 90-year-old husband found a new reason to get excited on game nights.
And from Nigeria to Ethiopia, the Philippines and beyond, fans shared stories of setting alarms in the middle of the night just to watch No. 22. 🌎
THIS is the Caitlin Clark Effect. Not the ratings. Not the records. The PEOPLE. 🥹🏀
Thousands have read our open letter to the WNBA. But the stories being shared beneath it might be even more powerful than the letter itself.
👇 Read the letter. Read the comments. Then tell us YOUR story.

My problem w this is
1. You don’t get to light a match and walk away from the flame. She was part of the problem.
2. If you’re going to speak on the problem, tell the WHOLE story, not just the half that serves your narrative. Otherwise, you’re not helping solve anything. You’re helping it grow
Yes, I’ve seen fans of “this one person” (who we all know is Caitlin Clark) minimize the contributions and accomplishments of other players in this league. That deserves criticism. But I’ve ALSO seen Caitlin’s fanbase broadly labeled racist, called “coons,” and subjected to all kinds of vitriol for what amounts to perfectly normal basketball commentary about certain players
Calling out one form of abuse while ignoring another isn’t accountability. It’s selective outrage.
